I have 100,000km on my 2012 Murano and want to replace the CVT fluid. Have found treads on the early models, 2005 etc, but none on 2012 and onwards. I would prefer to replace all old fluid, IE fluid in cooler etc. Can anyone help with info on the procedure to replace the NS2 fluid????

I think the first and second gen Murano's share the same CVT, so the procedure should be exactly the same.

Thanks for reply Rogue One. yep, was wondering if the cooler arrangement is the same because I popped the black plastic cover off and could not immediately see the cooler pipe connections. I will take a better look.

Just in case you didn't know, here at NICO we have Factory Service Manuals (FSM) available free to members. Take a look at the link in my signature to find the FSM for your vehicle.

Cheers Rogue One. The FSM is awsome. Very handy. Interestingly that FSM does not include "TM Transaxle and transmission" Am thinking for my CVT service I will just drop the old fluid out of the gearbox, disconnect hoses from cooler and use a small pump to flush old fluid out and pump new fluid in. That should get rid of most of the old fluid.
The cooler connections do look different between the phase1 and phase 2 Muranos. Cheers.

Out of interest I called in to our local Nissan dealership (a big dealership) and spoke to the Service Manager. When I asked what procedure they use for a Murano CVT fluid change, he said they do not do a 'flush'. They simply drain 4 Liter of fluid from the transmission, pour in a fresh 4L, run engine, stop engine, drain off another 4L and pour 4L fresh fluid back in.
This came as a bit of a shock to me, seems a bit hit and miss. I think I will try to pump all old fluid out prior to pouring an fresh fluid. he told me the NS-2 fluid has been superceeded with NS-3.

Further to my CVT fluid change...... I contacted another big Nissan Dealership service department to ask about CVT fluid replacement and was told that the fluid flush/replacement method should be done. They told me that they did not have the required equipment so sent me off to a nearby "Gearbox shop".
The well reputed shop said they do all the CVT servicing for the local Nissan dealership. They disconnected the line to the cooler and hooked in their flush rig. Start the engine and flushed through new fluid until all the old fluid was replaced. I noticed the line they broke into is extra long with a convenient joiner and hose clips all set up for the job. The line and joiner is stowed in a plastic clip just behind radiator/oil cooler, L/H side of car. The gearbox shop offered me the option of servicing with the Nissan NS-2 fluid or they prefer to use "LUBEGUARD CVT FLUID", supposedly superior and deffinately a satisfactory alternative. Google it for the spec.
Now that I know where the CVT to cooler line is stowed and understand what they do, I think next time I will do the change myself.

I am just wondering about CVT flush on 2009 Murano. Would one case be enough fluid ? Where is CVT fluid cheapest ?
