Strange...I replaced keyfob battery then maybe 2 months later warning shows on the dash again.

I replaced it again today no problem, but the old battery tests at 3v.

Ideas? I used a energizer max battery this time.

Besides the warning the remote doesn't always open doors as usual from normal distance.

Lithiums start out at 3.05V and have a very flat discharge curve. They're near death at 3.00 and dead at 2.99. Sounds like you just got a crappy replacement, but make sure the circuit board isn't showing signs of bridging from crud or corrosion. If it is, clean it with alcohol and a toothbrush. If it has anything like Coke residue that won't come off with alcohol, water is okay but dunk the unit in alcohol afterward.
