Now that Fall has arrived in my area I am finding that the front defroster vent on the passenger side is not working. The driver side clears fast enough but not the other one. I have changed the climate setting a number of times but no difference.

Has anyone had issues like this. From what I can see there is no indication of a blockage but then I am not willig to risk taking apart the dash myself and having it not fit back together.

I expect that there is just 1 fan motor for the front defroster but with 2 paths?

Thanks

Hmm...I wonder if you have a stuck vent door or something somewhere. I'm not familiar with the innards of the dash but perhaps someone who's removed the dash can chime in?

Just to be clear, are you talking about the very front one, at the windshield? If so, then those should both be fed from one duct in all the dashes I've removed.

I don't think this should affect it, but just in case this system is much fancier in this car, make sure you're not in DUAL mode with the passenger side set to a more gentle setting.

Ilya & EdBwoy,

Thanks for your comments.

Yes the vent just ar the bottom of the windshield. I believe both are set the same but I will check to make sure both driver & passenger settings are alike tomorrow morning and will report my findings.

To expand on what Ed said...if you have dual mode on, changing the settings to match might not make a difference because the car will judge what it needs to do to match them accordingly. You might have the window open on one side so the car will not blow there, etc.

Push the 'Climate' button and then make sure 'Dual Mode' is turned OFF. Before doing this, set your driver side to 90 and passenger side to 60. You should IMMEDIATELY see the passenger side go to 90 after turning off Dual Mode.
