Hi folks, I'm a newbie looking to re-thread a wheel bolt for my 2012 Frontier and I'm looking for the thread size. I know the nut is 12MM x 1.25. Not sure if I need to re-theread the wheel bolt with a smaller size, i.e. 11.5 or 11. Or should I just use the 12MM rethreader?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to NICO Club!

If you're talking about a wheel hub stud, then you want to replace it, not re-thread it. It's too dangerous in a critical location otherwise.

If it's some other bolt, then maybe rethread, but a die will cost more than the bolt I suspect, so I'd go for a replacement. In any case, be sure to get the properly rated bolt. Affordable wood bolts at home depot are not the same as Nissan factory bolts for suspension.

Threading will be different measurements than the nut and bolt sizes. You need a thread pitch and diameter. So, get a matching bolt, put a nut on that and then take that nut to the hardware store and put it on the thread pitch measurers and see what you need.

Please let us know how it goes. If you need help finding your thread pitch, please post a photo or provide a better description of which bolt you refer to. Good luck!
