Ok guys, first time poster here. Nice to meet ya! Anyway, Mother called me today after taking her car to the dealership and them saying nothing is wrong (common about this problem it seems) I did do a bit of searching before coming here for advice. Ok, so her transmission is going into limp mode when it gets hot (limiting to 60mph and low RPMs) I am going to take care of this for her so I know I need to get the Nissan cvt fluid ns-2 and I want to get a descent aftermarket transmission cooler for her so this doesnt happen again. My 2 questions are: first, how much transmission fluid goes in these? I do not live near her so I need to order the parts ahead of time. Second, is there a good aftermarket transmission cooler that you recommend? A direct replacement type maybe that doesnt need any modifications to put in?

~Thanks for your time everyone!

What's the outside temperature when your mother's CVT goes into limp mode? Also, how many miles does your mother's car have on it? Nissan's CVT uses a special fluid that's easiest to purchase at the dealership. The number of CVT fluid that needs to be replace is determined after the mechanic tests the current CVT fluid using the consult device. The CVT typically only needs a certain percentage drained and replaced --- and the amount is determined by the feedback the consult device provides. A transmission cooler isn't necessary--- the problem will most likely be resolved when the with a CVT fluid change.
