2012 Altima 2.5SL Strange noise. Help!

I have lurked around this site for a while. Now I am asking for your help.

I have a 2012 Altima 2.5SL and over the weekend I noticed the vehicle made an odd noise when put into reverse. This is the first I noticed of such a noise. The car doesn't make the noise when in drive and I have not noticed a loss of power or anything.

However, when I put the vehicle in reverse the engine has a vibration and sounds like my diesel tractor. Like I said I haven't noticed any other issues when driving.

Any thoughts?

Just so we're clear...is the noise coming from the engine or does it sound transmission related? Are you experiencing this noise every time you put your car in reserve or is the noise you're hearing intermittent? How many miles does your car have?

Do you have any sort of warranty left on the vehicle? If you have any sort of warranty left on your car take it to a dealership ASAP. Even if you don't have any warranty remaining, noises like you described are best diagnosed by a mechanic so the cause can be properly isolated.
