Let's face it, as awesome a car the Z34 is, it did have a few minor flaws. (Z33 too) Oil cooler limp mode, odd temp/fuel pod cluster, and no heated mirrors to name a few things.

Considering the fact that in 2011 Nissan will release the "4th" Generation Z34 as the 2012 370z, what updates do you hope to see?

(Let's not forget some of the revisions that were made among the 4th gen Z33 [front bumper revision, door cupholders, center console revision, rev-up, updated tail and headlights] and the 4th gen R35 [front and rear bumper revision, daytime led, 50+ hp, new wheels].

I can not think of a single thing I would change about my car. Ok...maybe the fangs. :squint:

My mirrors have a little heated mirror thing like they are heated, but I don't have a clue how to turn them on. Being that I live in the south, the car is garage kept and if it is icy...I ain't getting out in it, they really aren't an issue for me anyway.

My G had almost every option available. 90% of that crap is worthless. That is why I got the base model Z. I want to drive my car...I don't want it driving me.

Rear defrost switch. They work together. Almost every Nissan since ~93 has had the mirror heaters integrated into the switch for the rear defroster.

Noobs. :tisk: :chuckle: Just kidding! I love the mirror defrost, mine gets plenty of use in the fall and winter running in the mountains.

I've gotten used to a lot of the little things that I didn't like about the 370. After reading so many widespread complaints about oil temperature I can't imagine Nissan not doing anything about that. Sure an aftermarket oil cooler would fix it but in what world should an owner have to add an oil cooler to a brand-new vehicle marketed as a sports car?

On a smaller level is the combi-gauge that I hate so much, I've read a few complaints about that as well and that would seem to be an easy fix. I imagine a new needle gauge making a reappearance, as well as the TPMS actually showing the tire psi like the 2005 and earlier Z's did.

I'm sure I can come up with some more things, but it's early still and I haven't had anything to drink. :)

Anybody ever wonder what happens when the future Z's run out of displacement sizes for a v6? As much as i'd love a v8 Z, I don't think that will happen.

I think he means what happens when the numbers run out

240Z - 2.4L
260Z - 2.6L
ect.... ect....

I think it would be beyond baller to see a remade 240Z. A high-revving (I'm talking 8-9K redline) turbo 2.4L monster would be ridiculous awesome!

I guess I'll be on the design team. I mean, you guys are basically twisting my arm.....

Seriously though, I think Nissan needs to hire on some pure automotive enthusiasts to help with the planning process and design process of new models. I mean, they have the econo-sedans and minivans on lockdown (if they would drop the CVT and bring more M/T variants back, that is).

The sport and luxury brands are the ones that are..... dwindling in features that users want to see added/removed. Basically just listening to feedback on what people love/hate about the cars.

I would love to see Nissan put out a pure balls-to-the-wall sports car. No ABS, no Traction Control, no Skid Control, ect. Idk if I'd even want to see that as part of the Z lineage though. I definitely stand by my 240Z recommendation though. I mean, who doesn't love a 9K rpm redline?

Looks like I'm the lone voice of dissent on the 9K screamer. S'ok...one riot, one ranger.

Don't get me wrong, I'm ok with a 9K redline, I just don't like the sacrifices that come with it. Consider two other high-revving Japanese offerings from the same generation as the 350Z: the S2000 and the RX8 - in the stock form they're gutless.

The S2000 - everyone spouts the 237 bhp @ 8,300 rpm from a 2 litre engine but what about 153 lb·ft @ 7,500 rpm - that's stock 240SX torque territory there. :tisk: Mazda's rotary fares a little better with the torque coming on a little sooner...177kW (237 hp) at 8200 rpm and 211Nm (156 lb-ft) of torque at 5500 rpm, but loses a little horsepower.

I'm not opposed to either of those cars, when properly tuned & modified, or to the idea of high-revving engine...just not in my Z. With the now proven demand for rear wheel drive cars I can finally see a future where Nissan could develop and market a spiritual successor to the S-Chassis (S13, not S30!) and I think that's where a smaller, forced-induction engine belongs...you know, like the original Japanese S13/14/15 cars. ;)

The potential problem is with cannibalizing sales from the Z. Porsche had to deal with this with the 911 when they made the performance of the Cayman-S so potent.

Sorry to disappoint guys, but very little (next to nothing) has changed. Good news though - you're the first to hear about the disappointing lack of updates! ;)

Correct. It is, however, now only available with the more expensive Touring package, rather than previously available with both the Base and Touring models.
