Hey-

I am on the market for a 2011 versa and I came across a listing with several versas for sale for 10k. It sounds too good to be true... is it??

Is there anything you know about the 2011 that we should be aware of or are they just trying to get them off the lot?

Thanks!

Know of any problems with the 2011 Model, sounds like a good bargain, is this price for the base model.

If it's the base model, just be ready for the smaller engine, no radio, no A/C, etc. If it's worth the difference in price to you, it should be a good car. (We've had good luck with ours, but all are SL's. Plus, I like the hatchback!)

Is that 10k from a dealer or 10k side of the road? If it's from a dealer my advice is forget it, unless they want rid of it and it's an out the door price.. after taxes, fees and other charges they hit you with you're already into the 1.8 price range lol. I stated out looking for a new 1.6 with A/C only to end up in a 1.8 as the prices weren't that much different all in. Personally if you can afford it get a good used SL or a 1.8 you'll enjoy the extra's like an A/C, Stereo etc or better interior and power options. Plus you're rear seats will fold down if you get a sedan and the hatch has tons of space in the back. From what I understand the 1.6 Base seats are stuck in place!

From my searching I found it to be a myth the idea of a $10k new car, they add about $720 destination charge, +$1000 if you want an automatic which basically takes you out of the 1.6 Base and into the 1.6! After that come taxes, title, tag and dealer fees. You're already looking at around $12,500 at the very least before you even sit in it without a stereo lol

Having said all that if it's side of the road deal and you can live without A/C, automatic transmission, power locks/doors and don't mind installing a stereo I'd jump on it.

Good Luck! :)

What I find this side of the pond is that the base model new is almost the same price as a second hand 1 year old top of the range and for me that is best way to go, you have all the bells and whistles and still a bit of warranty left.

That's exactly what I was hoping to find over here but when I went searching I found I could get a new car with 0 miles on it for the same price as one in this area with 30k - 40k unknown miles on it and a few options. I suppose I got burnt with my previous used car purchase and didn't want to risk another used car that's been driven rough/abused over the course of it's life.

I went looking for a good used or a base model new. I ended up getting a 2010 1.8 S Hatchback for $11,700 plus tax & dest. made it $13,200. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but I think getting the HB over the sedan is worth the extra money.

Good price, I really wanted the 1.6 to start with but glad I got the 1.8 and more for the hatch than anything else. 13,500 all in out the door to me at least was a decent price on a brand new car. Enjoy your cars!

I couldn't have said it better myself, I've the bare bones 1.8 myself and I'm very happy with it and worth the little extra it costs. Plus I like the 6 speed manual, surprised to find a 6 speed in an entry level car.

I bought my 2009 1.6l brand new otd with a/c $11,840. The main reason I went with it is because my dad didn't want me buying a used car and the only new cars that were in my price range were the versa and the rio which I found hideous. If you want a brand new car for under 12k tax & title it's a good choice. I enjoy my car and since my last car was a 1991 ford escort the performance is fine with me haha.

It depends if this will be a 2nd or 3rd car. If it is your primary car, you will be more satisfied with a S or SL. If it is your 2nd or 3rd car, it is quite the value.

But the $10K version (1.6 Base) does not have:
A/T
A/C
Radio
Front Center Arm Rest
Cruise Control

The 1.6 does add:
A/C
Antilock brakes

and the A/T as an option.

Not included in the $10K price is the destination charge.

(Power Window and Door Locks appear to be standard on all models.)

I have a 2009 1.6 with the A/T and A/C. Bought a radio and put it in. (10 minute job if you have some mechanical capability) Also put in a factory arm rest.

As my 3rd car, it is a good vehicle and a $$$ bargain. Bought it for my college age son. Love the 6 air bags standard. (Ok, also since it can't go that fast!)

$15,000? A Versa SL with nav is at minimum sticker $18,300. Did you trade in a vehicle? Often times, they will give you a lower price on the new car to accept the trade value of your current car. Maybe some rebates available, too. Invoice would be about $17,600 not including tax, title, license and doc fee.

negotiation is the key to get a decent price. Tip 1 go the last day of the month, this day they have a quater to make like the police and they have to sell the cars yes or yes. even if they loose money on a few cars the manufactory will give them money back for the cars they sell the last day of the month and cover the lost. Tip 2 never show desperate for a car, say something like you dont need a car but if they give you a good price why not. The original price for a nissan I got was a new 2011 versa 5dr HB I4 Auto 1.8 S with Power Plus Package 16,645 + 1,348 sales tax + 340.00 dealer fee = 18,333. I end paying 13,000 including tax, dealer fee and I got 24 moths free of Maintenance Plus Service 320.00 value. I saved 5,653. Always negotiate the prices.

I agree with conde. Mine is 2010 1.6 and the windshield price was $11,999 but with taxes, and dealer fee I would've ended up with $14K(if not more) which is too much for a 1.6 so I left. To my surprise they kept calling me with different offers and I kept ignoring their calls til the 4th day...salesman said I could get it at the winshield price with tint and an aftermarket headunit but I talked the sales manager into giving it to me with no tint or radio for $11,399 which didnt include down payment...I drove it away with $9K OTD and $155/month!
