I purchased my 2011 Nissan rogue S awd and replaced the motor and transmission with a brand new one due to the person who owned it before didn't take care of it and the transmission wasn't shifting right and the motor had a tick/knock So I replaced the motor and transmission. And now the odometer is was of it was around 80k now it says 243k when I hooked every thing back up. Is there a way to correct this?

The Federal odometer law, 49 U.S.C. Chapter 327 (Public Law 103-272), prohibits the disconnection, resetting, or alteration of a motor vehicle's odometer with intent to change the number of miles indicated thereon. The law requires that a written disclosure of the mileage registered on an odometer be provided by the seller to the purchaser on the title to the vehicle when the ownership of a vehicle is transferred. If the odometer mileage is incorrect, the law requires a statement to that effect to be furnished on the title to the buyer. http://www.nhtsa.gov/Vehicle+Safety/Odo ... +Consumers

Altering the mileage reading on a motor vehicle is a felony. http://www.justice.gov/civil/case/feder ... g-statutes

Electronic Code of Federal Regulations
Title 49 → Subtitle B → Chapter V → Part 580—ODOMETER DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENTS
580.2 Purpose.
The purpose of this part is to provide purchasers of motor vehicles with odometer information to assist them in determining a vehicle's condition and value by making the disclosure of a vehicle's mileage a condition of title and by requiring lessees to disclose to their lessors the vehicle's mileage at the time the lessors transfer the vehicle. In addition, the purpose of this part is to preserve records that are needed for the proper investigation of possible violations of the Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Savings Act and any subsequent prosecutorial, adjudicative or other action.
You will need to have this looked at by a professional trained in dealing with transmissions and odometers. Although you were simply doing a repair job, you'll have trouble in the future when you try to sell or trade-in the vehicle, as there's a discrepancy in the miles on your car.
