My daughter purchased a new 2011 Rogue S in Nov of 2010..the color is Pearl White..she had a stone chip on the hood & took it to get repaired..When the person doing the repainting noticed that the Frame & Body are not the same color..The Frame is not Pearl White (the pearl part of the paint is missing) it is just white...showed it to service manager & he said probably nothing short of reapainting the frame part of the car..Or does anyone think that Nissan would make some type of monetary restitution on this..Thanks

I guess all the "invisible" parts, like the engine compartment, underneath the hood etc, don't need to have the pearl effect. My Rogue is Dark Gray and under the hood it looks like it even has no clear coat. It looks matte.

I understand but when you open the doors & the trunk lid you can plainly see it is a different color..The frame when you open both front & back doors at the same time you can see the difference

So only when you open the front and back doors you notice? I don't know if I fully understand the situation but I just looked at my Rogue and I presume the pearl part you're talking about is the clearcoat?

Anyways, my paint is not shiny when I open the door. Yes, the frame part when you look inside the door and stuff. etc.

Perhaps, Nissan saving on the clearcoat paint.

No biggie for me at least.

Not a big deal for me either but we looked at one in the showroom & all the paint matched..was just wondering if she ever traded it if someone would question the differnet colors,,might think it was in an accident

I think when you have the appraisal, a well trained mechanic/body shop guy can easily say if the part is original or replaced/repainted. I think if your concern is to keep the trade in value high, a well maintained car with a well-kept maintenance history book is more important.

Nissan rep. contacted my daughter & is very concerned about this, it could result in a recall,,he asked what she would consider for this problem,,she is going to call him next week & present her options

I have a Pearl White Rogue too, and while I think the paint is not pearled inside the doors on the jambs and such, that doesnt really bother me. what did bother me is that I think the rear fascia/bumper is a slightly different shade then the rest of the car. I blamed it on the car wash lighting, but one of these days I'm going to have to take a closer look, now that someone else has mentioned it.

It's incredibly difficult to match paint on metal vs. the urethane bumpers. Metallic and or pearlescent paints make it worse. Part of the reason is the plasticizers used to make the bumper paint flexible enough, the other is dissimilar materials. Also, in some cases the bumpers are painted on a different line than the rest of the body.

I'm not sure I thoroughly understand where the color difference occurs on your vehicle. For the most part, when I think "frame"... I think of the underside of the vehicle and some areas inside the engine compartment. Are you saying the color difference occurs when you compare areas of the engine compartment to the body (exterior) of the vehicle... or is the difference when you compare all the inside door openings ("including" the trunk lid are) to the body (exterior)?

I have a 2009 in Pearl white. After reading this thread, I thoroughly examined my Rogue. The insides of all doors openings including the inside of the trunk lid and trunk lid opening are all painted pearl white "with clear topcoat", and all are a perfect match the exterior body color and finish. The engine compartment however is just a plain white. No pearl finish... no clear coat. I never noticed it before but its not a big deal to me. The reason the paint appears to be a different color between the frame area of the engine compartment and the exterior is only because its missing the pearlescent topcoat which imparts different color hues due to the blue / green metalflake properties of the top coat. On your specific vehicle, if the interior of the door openings is lacking the pearl finish and topcoat I'd be alarmed. "If" you are only talking about the engine compartment I'd be shocked, if after inspection by a Nissan rep, they offer any form of restitution.
