When the drivers rear door is opened, the hatch pops loose. It happens when I hit the door actuator pin on the jamb as well. So every time I let my kid in and out of her carseat, we have to open and close the liftgate. At ONE point I had some water drip out of the bottom of the tailgate plastic coverings while we were out and about, but have not seen it happen since then. Some context, I live in the PNW and we had QUITE a bit of rain and cloud cover this winter. Any ideas what could be causing this? Also lately, when it has been raining, the right turn signal flashes faster, but neither bulb is burned out.The rogue has more problems then that, but I will start there. Any more info needed, I will try to provide.

There are two ways to "tighten" the door.

The first is to adjust the body-mounted latch. The second way is to back-out the four rubber bumpers that are located around the door opening. The rubber bumpers are located on each side of the hatch. They should screw in/out to allow for some adjustment for a hatch that's too loose/tight.

This is an image for a Murano, but it's generally the same for the Rogue.

Thank you for that answer, Rogue One. I get that what your suggesting is to help seal the back liftgate. It doesn't just pop open, you can hear the latch in the back open and close when the door strike pin is operated and it lets it become ajar. It doesn't fly open, it just rattles and gives a warning, door ajar on the instrument panel. With the rear drivers door open, i can push the pin in and out, and it makes the liftgate mechanism open and close.

↓ is the pin on the driver rear door that makes the liftgate release from locked, so if I forget to open and close the liftgate after using that door, when i start driving I get a door ajar warning.

I think that we're on the same page, more or less.

If you can hear the locking mechanism operate when you use that rear door, then it would seem to me that one of two things are going on...

1) You've got a wiring short somewhere.
2) There's a problem with the BCM (Body control module).
I know of two ways to reset your body control module.

1. Disconnect your battery positive cable and let it set for at least an hour. Then reconnect the cable and turn the key on (do not start the vehicle) and let the computer relearn the settings. Give it 20 seconds then start your car. This has worked for me in the past.

2. Take it to a dealer and let them reprogram the module. This will cost around $100.00 depending on the dealer.

New BCM's cost as much as $600.00 and then you have to pay a dealer to program the new one to your vehicle. Good luck.

Wow thanks, Rogue One. I will disconnect the battery today and see if that fixes it. Hopefully its the BCM and not a wiring short. I will update the post to let you know if it worked or not.

That is a bizarre issue, subbed to the thread for the out come. Curious if the BCM reset fixes the issue.

Sorry about the slow response. I did leave it off for about an hour and 20 minutes, and it did not fix the issue. Right turn signal still blinks fast, and when I lift the Driver's rear door handle(or push the door ajar pin on the jamb) my lift gate door lock actuates, making it ajar. Anyone else have an idea, or am I just screwed with bad wiring? The problem is only recent (2 months). Thanks again!

Not powered liftgate. Liftgate only opens from the manual slide on the INSIDE of the hatch. The pressure button that unlocks all the doors work, but not the liftgate open button. I went to the junk yard and got new buttons and a new latch from a 2009 Rogue S. Changeing them both out did nothing. Checked the fuses and pulled the BCM fuse for 30 seconds, not fixed. Have disconnected the battery for 4 hours, still did not fix it. Anyone got other things I can try. I just want to fix this thing and get rid of this Rogue.

About the same time the right turn signal started blinking fast, but both lights are still in working order, should this be related?

There's a link of the actual problem. It went away, but then the rear hatch stopped working completely. So do we still think having the dealership reprogram my bcm would fix this issue?

I've merged your new topic with your original as this is just a continuation of the problems you're having with the hatch.

I'm gonna refer back to my previous post.

If you're going to trade it in at a dealership, I wouldn't waste the money on repairing it. Right now dealerships are desperate to make up for lost sales due to COVID-19 so they may not penalize you for it. And if they do it will probably be as much as what you'd pay to have it fixed, so it's a wash.

EDIT: When you take it in, do NOT mention any issues. I don't know what level your horse trading skills are, but there's some excellent videos online on how to get the best deal and how to haggle with a dealership.

Thanks Rogue One. I was going to sell it private party, but this whole thing had me jaded and I will just trade it in. And hopefully have a better experience with the next one.
