2011 Rogue - Distance to Empty Countdown Behavior

Hey Everyone,

I've noticed on my 2011 Rogue that the numbers on the "Distance to Empty" computer only rise after a fill-up. If the computer really is "updating every 30 seconds," shouldn't the numbers occasionally rise?

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this should have been included in my other open thread.

I would assume that the "distance to empty" isn't an exact snapshot based on your current driving; I would assume it is a snapshot based on your driving history. How far back that history goes will determine how responsive the calculator is to minor changes in your driving habits (such as reducing RPM's, etc..).

Distance to Empty would just show you how far you can drive based on driving habits, your MPG or KM/L, and really shouldn't be used to judge driving distance when you are running low because there is no guarantee that your current driving habits mirror that used to make the calculation.

If you're looking for more info I would definitely research Nissan's Distance to Empty (across their lineup) as the logic used in a Murano or Altima is most likely the same logic used in the Rogue. Might get a few more hits that way.

Yea my dte is really weird, its reading 0 dte. Im at the red zone of my fuel meter. It would usually read 30 - 50 miles by then. Imma put 10 gallons in and see what happens. I'll return feedback.
