2011 Rogue cranks on its own

I just bought my daughter a 2011 Rogue SL. When I turn the car off, get out, and lock it it cranks back up. When I touch the brake pedal it cuts off. Any ideas on what is wrong or what I'm doing wrong?

It sounds like there is a remote start (aftermarket) system installed. If it does, it could be faulty installation, or a setup problem

I bought it used yesterday so I have no idea if it has an after market remote start system. I'm letting the dealer check it out but just wanted to see if this is a common problem or a symptom of a bigger problem.

I have a remote start installed for my car, and since I didn't want to give up a key fob, every time I use it, when I get in the car, I have to step on the brake to kill it (which is what you did to kill the engine). My remote start (part of the security system) also has a feature which I can turn on, so it will automatically start the car if the temperature and/or voltage drop below certain set value, for like 15 minutes, and stop afterward. I personally never use it, but that could be one of the possible cause.

there might be a remote start installed, like my buddy Zeng said. also check the car for a lost remote that might somehow be between the seats and pushing "start" or something similar.

you also might be pushing "lock" to many times, and that gets an aftermarket remote start to activate. i know my fathers car has that. push lock twice, and the darn car starts. that was the only command available for an aftermarket remote start.
