Hi everyone,
I found out today that a 2011 Infiniti QX56 that I had ordered back in July (I test drove one the first day it came out and ended up ordering one because the dealer only had one -- it actually had two but had already sold one by the time I dropped by) with a projected build date of August and estimated arrival date this month.

However, just the other day I got a phone call from the dealer telling me that the Nissan factory in Japan had shut down for two weeks because of Golden Week, and as a result my order would be delayed until the following month. When I went to go research Golden Week, however, I saw that Golden Week is actually in May. I have no reason to distrust my dealer because the production delay means my dealer isn't getting a lot of cars this month (and will probably be hurting in sales). Is it possible that Golden Week affected production that far down the line, or could there have been some other delay halting production for two weeks?

I remember seeing something in the news a couple months ago where Nissan had to shut down production for something like three days because it had a parts shortage (I believe it was a computer chip from Europe, IIRC).

Call some other dealers and ask them if there's a delay in production. I'm sure if you were to ask 5 other dealers you'll probably get your answer. If not, call up Nissan Consumer Affairs and see what they can tell you.

Finally got around to e-mailing Infiniti using their web page contact form. There's only one dealer in my area so it was easiest to just e-mail Infiniti to see what their response is.

they take a late summer break and there was a 3 day down period for the ECM chips. NO BS from your dealer.

Not to mention the QX56 is in high demand, that certainly does not help your situation.

No kidding!
Earlier this week I received some good news from my dealer. The QX56 I ordered should be in next week.
I also learned that a second QX is slated to arrive at the dealer this month, but that has already been pre-sold. Three more are due in November, and those have also been pre-sold. So I'd definitely agree that the QX is very much in high demand...hopefully that means that the product is so good that Infiniti can't keep it in stock.

Just picked up an 11 QX56, and wow this vehicle is amazing. It's no wonder why they can keep them in stock!!

Yeah, is is truly in impressive vehicle, and it is totally a vehicle you need to experience in person to get the full scope of what it really offers feature wise and in terms of styling. I think it is one of the most impressive vehicles on the road today, ESPECIALLY for an SUV!!!

My QX56 finally came in this week and I picked it up Thursday. It's definitely been enjoyable to drive, with a smooth ride (for an SUV). Interestingly enough, the car feels heavy, which I think is a good thing, because it means I'm not bouncing all over the place. And since I got the vehicle fully loaded, I've spent quite a bit of time familiarizing myself with all the bells and whistles it has. One thing that would make it better is if Nissan/Infiniti came out with a hybrid version of the QX, which would take some of the sting out of the gas pump... but so far the vehicle rides like a dream. :)

According to multiple Infinite dealerships on the East coast, there are over 100 people on the waiting list for the 2011 QX56.
