Hello everyone, as you can probably tell I'm new to the forum. I'm looking for some help in regard to the new QX56.

I'm a retired NFL lineman and as you can guess I'm not small. At 6'5" and 325lbs I always have a hard time finding a vehicle that is the right size for me. My issue isn't the legroom (I have a 31" inseam). However all of my height is from the hips up (I guess that's one of the reasons I was able to make a living pushing 300lb men around a a grass field for 15 years) and so headroom is at a super premium. Normally I have to delete the sunroof to have enough room.

I've typically owned full sized pickups, mostly Dodge Ram 2500s. However I'm looking for a luxury SUV, and obviously the new QX56 more than qualifies.

My question is for anyone who has purchased one, or has spend any time in the driver's seat of one. What's the headroom like? Is is roomy? I live in Boise, Idaho and there isn't an Infiniti dealer in town so I will have to fly to Portland, Seattle, or (God help me) Salt Lake City to find one and I"d really like to have a good idea about the vechile before I buy one.

I have to say that I REALLY like the styling of the new sled. I know it's somewhat questionable in many minds, but it looks how a luxury SUV should look, chocolate and vanilla I guess.

Thanks to eveyone for any/all information!

Welcome to NICOclub! As a Packer fan (I am in Green Bay), I am always happy to help an NFL player or retiree! The Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 both have a TON of space and a TON of head room. A friend of mine is 6' 5", and not not skinny either, and he loves his QX56. He almost settled for a new Toyota Sequoia, then he drove the QX56 and found out there was a lot more head room. He was also blown away by how well it handles and the performance.

The real question is, what are you going to do to customize this QX56 and make it your own? What size rims? :) Good luck in your search!

The newer QX56 is built on a different platform than the old version. I compared the front seat specs to my Titan's specs and its slightly smaller. Most relevant to this thread may be that the headroom is lower by about 2 inches. That may or may not be a big deal though as the Titan (and consequently the Armada/QX6) is cavernous as far as front seat space is concerned. However, how one fits in a car can vary as seat position for a driver in a car will not always be the same. For example, while the headroom may be adequate, outward visibility may be diminished in the driving position that may be most comfortable to you. Or perhaps one might feel too close to the steering wheel. So ultimately, climbing into one yourself is always going to be the best way to tell for sure. But I would suggest at least comparing the space to vehicles you own or have driven to get an idea of if it might be what you are looking for in terms of space before investing any money or time into making a trip to the dealer to check one out.

It looks like we need to make a surprise trip down to San Diego for a wedding (I'm guessing the rabbit didn't make it) and I'm going to take one for a test drive while there. Hopefully I'll be driving home in a new ride!

I talked to a dealer in Portland and he told me that they 3-4 Portland Trailblazers already running around town in new QX56's. I didn't ask for a player(s) name(s) and he didn't offer any, but I'm hoping it wasn't just shooting guards buying the new sleds!

In any case, thanks for the info and if I do pick one up I'll be sure to post some pictures. As long as I'm down there I may need to look for some nice rims too...this trip may get REAL expensive. Good thing I bought the wife a new ragtop last month!
