Hi all. I'm a newbie here but familiar with other car forums. Our 2011 Quest LE's (original owner, 48k miles, well maintained) driver's side HID headlight just went out. The rest of the bulb cluster works fine, including the high beams. We noticed it because I saw condensation in the assembly and wanted to turn on the lights to heat things up. When it didn't come on I bought a new bulb (not cheap, btw) and the new bulb didn't work...which is why I'm here. Before I start taking everything apart looking for a bad connection, is there a usual suspect I should try first? I did a search on the forum and didn't see anything.

I'm wondering if the condensation has something to do with it. Assuming that's the case...do you think fixing a possible leak in the assembly will fix the problem? is there a failsafe that if things get moist the HID cuts out?

Thanks in advance!

Well, yesterday I swapped bulbs and the same side was bad, so it's definitely something electrical. I dried the assembly with a vacuum to the back for about ten minutes (removed all condensation) and still no luck. Today, I was about to take apart the assembly when...it started working again. The condensation returned so I'll have to tear it apart anyway, but I thought someone here might want an update. I was on the verge of buying an ignitor and ballast but thankfully I don't have to. :-)

Your HID ballast may be the problem, call Xtralights website and see if they have a cheaper replacement ballast for you.

After taking everything apart to re-seal the bulb because of the continued condensation, it quit working again. Now it's back on...go figure. I ordered a new (used) ballast and ignitor from eBay ($75 all told) just to be done with it. Thanks for the advice. I'll try xtra lights next time.

Hi All,
I just bought a 2011 Quest SV and i am also noticing the condensation on both lens. It is more prevalent on the right side. Is this normal with these cars?
All the lights work well just looks wet
Thanks

My passenger side was fine but a new cluster is pricey ($600). I ended up buying one when the condensation came back and the lights quit working. Easy install, though. Anyone want an old one? :-)
