Nissan announced the 2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet will be on sale in early 2011. Described as the world's first all-wheel drive crossover convertible, the MCC will have "room for four adults, space for golf bags or luggage (even with the top down), and a premium level interior." Despite sounding like a wild concept, the vehicle will go on sale early next year.

Very interesting vehicle, I personally am not sure how it will sell, but apparently somewhere along the line Nissan marketing execs find it worth while to mass produce this vehicle. Time will tell! I am not a fan of convertibles, but I live in Green Bay, WI.

That photo has popped up in numerous websites including Edmunds. Although I think it's a photochop, it gives you an idea of what it may look like. We'll have to wait until the LA Auto Show to see the real deal...

I've also seen a 2 door version, but it looks even less 'believable'...

Audi tried a similar concept back a few years ago... in 2007.

Original Photo posted is a photochop...note bush below the rollover bar is remarkably like the one to the top of the car. Good try, but the concept would not be a winner, the noise level would not be good with a rag top, structral ridgity would be greatly compromised as that is a lot of stiffness removed from the car. I have two ragtops now and love to drive the Murano just for the quiet ride and comfortable ride.

We will see what Nissan brings to the table early in 2011! This one will be very interesting!

OK, here is the official photo of the CrossCabriolet from nissannews.com:

IMHO, it's much nicer than the Edmunds photochop version.

Nissan is not currently planning to bring the Murano Crosscabriolet to Canada. If you want one, plan on driving to the nearest Nissan dealer in the USA.

I don't know about this one guys, this could be a flop for Nissan, but who knows, you would think that Nissan did their research and found that there was an interest in the marketplace for this type of vehicle, but I personally don't see it. Time will tell!

Yes, yes you do. Just so I don't have to take one out for a 'joy ride' and laugh at the salesman trying to well it to me.

Nope.

Not a fan. Nissan finally did something that I can not, in good conscience, get behind.

You're on your own with this one, guys. It sucks. :)

what about the 45k build 300zx convertible that nissan produced? one was made. it wasnt even the turbo version. THAT was a waste. it at least shoulda been blueprinted for aftermarket convertible enthusiasts. instead we do hack jobs lol. this at least has some kind of appeal to a few ppl who are forced to get a workvan and want to have SOME fun... lol...

I really hope when they start selling this that Nissan lists it as a separate vehicle on their monthly sales report, I really want to see how many they end up selling.

<sigh> I talked to Charlie at Peoria of Nissan this week. He is supposed to call me when one arrives. I'll go drive one, take some close-up pictures, and write an honest review. I have to admit though, I'm not looking forward to this one. :(

Wow, Charlie at Peoria Nissan is quite a nice guy to give you so much of his time! Send our thanks to him!!
He really does hook us up. We bought the Cube there, I get the Frontier and the Cube serviced there. I get to drive some cool stuff, he gets some publicity out of it. It's a great partnership. I'm still working on the GT-R test drive. Apparently those aren't as easy to come by. Liability sucks. :frown:

They had one on display at the plant the other day. Looks good in person. I wouldn't drive it personally, but I thought it looked better in person than in pictures.
I still don't understand why they didn't choose the Altima coupe for a convertible 1st???

I think it is truly about being an all weather SUV that is convertible. I think it is a strange concept, but for me personally, I cannot stand convertibles. If it is hot, I want the AC on, I hate the feeling of the "canvas" top as well. I much rather have a moon roof that opens and closes...........but no verts for me! That certainly doesn't mean that someone else would not like this though! :)

it's been quite some time since I posted on here...I was a former owner of an 05/09 Murano and when my lease for the 09 was up, YES...I bought the CrossCabriolet! :naughty: I must admit that I wasn't a fan at first (maybe it was the sea foam green that turned me off), but I've always wanted a convertible and I loved the Murano so much, why not!?

Now, I've only had it for about 5 days, so I'm still in the new stages. Are there any cons? Of course, with a convertible, I lose 50% of my trunk- so no IKEA or too much bulk shopping anymore, you get 2 less doors, but so what?! It's not like I'm chauffering anyone around! Is it pricey for it's entry level? possibly. But I did my research on price and got an amazing deal! We've bought 4 other vehicles from the Nissan Dealer and they hooked me up! :chuckle:

So far, I do LOVE IT! It's definitely a chick car and I feel that it is more geared for that market. I've gotten a lot of positive responses from people, even those of hardtop Murano owners as well as other luxury brands. :werd:

Personally, I am not a fan of Verts. With that being said, it is truly unique combination of several features. It truly is a luxurious vehicle, and where can you haul around 4 people in such luxury with a drop top and still have a truly 4 season vehicle? I am glad you like it, be sure to post on here your thoughts of it as you enjoy it in the coming months!

Thank You! I think there may be certain things that will take some time to get used to being that I've never had a convertible before. I do tell you what- it's got some power! I've read some other reviews where others feel like they're on a double-decker bus or something...I don't feel that way at all since I'm a tiny girl! To me, it just feels right.

I do like that I don't have so much of a blind spot as it is all full glass, but I miss the privacy glass in the rear. I'm assuming I can just get all my windows tinted as I see a lot of hand/finger prints lately from people peering in! :chuckle:

As I get to experience it more in the next months, I'll be sure to let you know.
