Post

Hi all,

I now have a new to me (used) 2011 LE. The only issue I have found is that the wipers do not work on the "intermittent" setting.
* When I move the wiper lever to the intermittent position they cycle once, and not again.
* When I change between any of the 4 time delay settings they cycle once, and not again.
* I have not yet tested the: washer fluid spray - wiper activation feature (some say it fails with intermittent).

I looked around online. Some say it is due to a failed intermittent relay (sometimes called an intermittent amplifier). The same folks also say it is located under the dash, up behind the glove box to the far right. Pictures of the part (that go into other Nissan vehicles) show what looks like a ~1.5"x1.5"x1/2" black box with a single square metal tab coming out of one side at the base. Try as I may, none of the websites would confirm that any part number was for my 2011 Murano LE. (Odd, right? ... It gets better; read on)

SO ... I called a dealer's parts room. I was told their computers and schematics DO NOT show the numbers for relays; the same is true for wire harnesses. He told me the mechanics remove, test and bring the original part to the parts desk to get a 1 for 1 replacement. This makes a certain amount of sense, and could be why no sites will say "part XYZ is the correct part" for my car; they don't know.

My questions:
* Where is the component (relay, amplifier, whatever) that governs my intermittent wipers located?
* Is the info that the parts guy told me accurate?
* What does the part typically cost?
* How much can I expect to pay for the dealership to repair it?

Thanks!!
BB
