Welcome and congrats on the new M.
I don't really know that a program change or parameter alteration will really help for a few reasons. Infiniti is not too keen on granting access to the AV control units. I was reading an updated service procedure and there are many hoops I have to jump through to make an update using their computer.
Basically if you tinker with it an break something that is not constituted as a warrantable repair and you might be on the hook for a $3-5k (depending on trim level) audio computer.
Now I agree with you the lockout feature can be a little annoying but there is no quick fix for this. They have gotten much better with the amount of access you are granted through either voice command (most need Alternate Command Mode) or some similar route. A few years ago the majority of the computer information was blackened for safety. The Japanese are crazy like that. I know I was driving a Range Rover recently that lets to play with everything while in motion, that would never happen if it came from the Land of the Rising Sun.
What are you trying to get into?
