Has anyone with an M37 experienced subtle noise/rattle at low speeds coming from the front end after hitting a small bump? I had the car at the dealer twice under warranty. The first time the caliper pins were lubed, to no avail, and the second time the front spring was changed, with a temporary fix. I feel its the calipers but only because the noise doesn't happen when the brakes are lightly pressed. I've inspected the calipers and don't see any obvious problems. It seemed to me that there was a lot of play in the pins (with those soft rubber liners near the end of the bottom pin) but I don't know if that's normal or not. My warranty has now expired.
I was going to see if putting some of that dark grey brake pad graphite based lubricant between the pads and the clips would help.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.

Hmm, rattle? Maybe the brake dust shield? Is that loose?

The sliders SHOULD have EXTREME play (but almost kinda like a suction due to the boot). You should be able to move them VERY freely, but they should 'suck back in' when you release them.

The dust shields are tight. The pins should slide easily along the axle plane (and do), let's call this the Z plane, but it seems like there's play along the X and Y planes also (due, I think, to loose pins or those rubber pin sheaths I mentioned before.

Okay, yeah, if the pins are moving any other direction but in/out freely, you have a problem for sure. I can't say I've ever seen that on any of the 4 Nissan products (two Maxima's and two Infiniti M's) I've owned, or the other 3 Nissan's my family has had, but I guess there is always a first for everything?

Anyone else? I am having the same exact issue. At low speeds I have a loud clattering rattle coming from the driver side wheel area. Infiniti replaced sway bar bushings and endlinks. They also did the struts and mounts. Noise is still there. The noise happens most at speeds around 20mph on a rough road. Lightly stepping on the brakes makes it go away. Infiniti blames my aftermarket pads but it made the same noise with the previous pads and hardware.

Are these issues on standard or sport model vehicles?
Or specify what type the brakes are.

Oh, and mileage.

I figured it out. My caliper is rocking on the slide pin making a distinct sound. I called the dealer after they tried to repair it 4 times and they were very non-chalant about it. Like oh well bring it in if you want. They refuse to address the co-pays I paid under my warranty, alignments. the 23 days the car was in their shop etc. They said they could squeeze me in a week and see if warranty will cover another repair. I told them they need to foot this bill. They already billed my warranty $2900 in repairs that were not needed and didn't fix the problem. They acted like they didn't understand why I was annoyed. It took me all of 5 minutes to pull the wheel and find the noise. Something apparently their ASE Master techs couldn't figure out. My service advisor isn't happy that I want to speak to the service manager. He insists they did everything correct and didn't overlook anything.

Serious necro post here, but this sounds exactly like the problem I've been fighting with my 2011 M37x - rattles from front wheel areas over low-speed rough roads, quiets down with brakes applied, and replacing front struts, mounts, and sway bar end links/bushings didn't help.

How did you end up fixing this?

I forgot to come back to this post, but the fix for me was to clean and lubricate and replace all rubber bits related to the caliper slide pins.
