I don't know about a Mazda Millenia... but I don't care for it that much because I really don't think it looks unique. The front is a Maxima, the back and sides are a G37 S Sedan. Both cars in the mid- $30K range - not fitting for a car in the $50K - $60K range. The interior looks very cool, but with all those curves, I'm wondering how much room they sacrificed. The engine offerings are big plus, but once again they're not unique. They've been around since the '08 and '09 model years, so they're overdue for inclusing into the M line. I was hoping for something... well, more. Something unique in Nissan / Infiniti styling. Something deserving of their flagship vehicle. Not the swapping of a few body panels around from other Nissan / Infiniti vehicles and PRESTO! A New Infiniti M! I'll be sticking with my M for a while.

Where was the 5.6L? If you are talking about the Nissan engine, I really doubt they were able to put the Armada engine in the M without some major modifications...but maybe I'm wrong.Just for that huge V8 engine, I am already planning on trading in my M45 for a used '11 M56 in 2014 (hoping to get a great deal like I did on the 45). The looks will probably grow on me.

Amazing looking car! I was leaning towards an 09 CTS-V in two years...this may change my mind.

I wonder if it's a VK56VE or VK56DE?

The M56 is a worth successor to the M and Q lines. Well done, Infiniti.
Ditto!

Yeah im kinda on the fence on this one. it does look like a bigger G with the lines. But i can also see the difference and distinction between the two. Like the maxima i will have to see it in person at different angles under different light. If then i'm still not sold, i will probably trade in my 03 for a 08 m or the new SHO

Indeed! Very well done on the engine choice. The 5.0 from the current FX50 would have been very, very good too, but the 5.6 just makes it truly awesome! Closer and closer to my recommendation years and years ago ago (when the 1997 Q came out) - make a Z60 model (with a 6.0 liter V-12) as the top-end Infiniti.

I am not as enamored of the looks - too much like other cars on the road, but it is not bad per se either.

I am very intetersted in the new technology that will be incorporated in the new M. Beyond the blind spot monitoring, they did not mention much at the news conference. I would hope they will incorporate the around-view monitor, lane departure prevention, and full speed cruise control. I also read something about a measure to prevent you from going backward into an object. Has anyone heard anything definitive? Has anyone seen the two icons on the steering column and does that suggest what tech will be added? I can't post a picture, but one shows a car with two concentric oval circles surrounding it (front larger than rear). The other shows a car from behind with lines behind it and a circle/object. I wonder if that is the option to prevent backing into objects.

don't like where they're going with this. most likely will be pickin up the 5-series because it's more manly. this just looks too much like the EX with childish characteristics. we want mean!

Funny, prior to this new M's release, the EX was my favorite of the new line of Infinitis as far as looks...for exactly the opposite reason you dislike it: I thought it was the LEAST juvenile looking.

Alternatively, I can't stand the bangle 5 series because it's so flamboyant and overdone. I've never found the current 5 remotely aggressive or "mean" looking.

I see. If it's as much improved over its predecessor as the F01 7 series is, it should be a great looking car once again.

I like it. I don't see any "huge" styling changes from the current gen M's but I do like some of the changes. I like the rear design a lot....

since the 2011 M is getting a 5.6, i wouldnt mind seeing a 2 door version like the MBenz E coupe. thatd be a nice head to head comparison with the E55

That's exactly what I like about it. Don't fix what isn't broken. I'm so sick of car magazines ragging on attractive designs just because they're not "evolutionary" enough. If a car looks good, it looks good. Bling factor and fads be damned. In 50 years it's not the bling- and fad-driven styling that will be remembered fondly, it's the stuff that stands on it's own. Take the Infiniti FX...the first gen was spectacular looking. Magnificent proportions, great details, every single bit of it was beautiful. The new FX tried to "evolve" from that and it looks like crap. The stupid headlights are terrible. And the worst part is there's still enough of the old FX left there to remind you of what the car COULD have been if Infiniti was more concerned with making an attractive car instead of making a "cool" car. And STILL magazine editors decry it for being too much like it's predecessor and not enough of a styling evolution.

I think the 2011 looks like a very mature evolution of a theme. and anyone who wants a 'mean' looking car probably needs enzyte. the 2011 looks somehow more robust and the interior is very well done. shows that the current g needs some work too. now that I think about it, the 2011 looks a lot like a maserati quattroporte which is certainly not a bad thing. not EXACTLY but very close.

I currently have the 08 M35 Base model....and....drooling over the 2011 V8. She is a BEAUTY!!!! Lots of detail were thought into this ride. Hands down the most beautiful car on the road once released. Will consider trading in my M in 2012 for a V8 when they work out the bugs.

Yeah, I'll seriously take a look at this car after it has been out for a year. (gotta let them get the bugs out). The pics of the new 5 series look pretty good also. I do wonder like someone else said about the interior. Curvy styling generally eats usable room but we will see. I think I'll also be waiting a while because I have already been through two cars since I got married a year ago. My wife says she has to get her Mini cooper S before I get another car. I guess that is fair.

I think the car looks awesome. I went cheap and got the m35 and almost instantly regret not getting the bigger engine. Now this car going to have 400 ponies and better gas mileage than the current M's . usually i'll wait till the first year model goes out but i may bite and go for it right from the word go and get a full extended warranty. Bsides my baby is a 08 and i got 50 k already . So time to start saving and getting that credit rating up bcause this baby is going to b mad expensive and i 'll need the lowest interest rating possible. i hear u with the wife stuff M 35. My wife next inline to get a car - her lease is up this April on her FX 35 and shes looking at the BMW X6. Yeah shes leaving the fold of Infiniti. She cant resist the maintenance free stuff and she got screwed Royally by Infiniti Service. Logged a complaint and all. Nothing happen of course

I'm in the same boat here. Like the look of the M56. Engine upgrade would be nice. But is it nice enough for me to deal with their Horrible service?Tramlining is a huge known issue, which they flat out say nothing they can do. I'm sure the M56 will have something that Inifiniti will also say "nothing we can do". So dissapointed with Infiniti. Not sure if I will ever purchase another one.

Nice work Nissan - Europe gets the high-tech hi-torque diesel and we get a 5.6 truck motor? Are they insane ? Gas will be expensive again in the US and may hit $5 on the next up cycle. You can keep your 5.6 and your battery and complexity laden hybrid. Just give us the diesel !!!
