I bought a new FX50 in December of 2010 and while I don't have any illusions of high mpg, I thought I would get at least in the los teens for around town driving. Only have 400 miles on it and drive in a pretty conservative way in D, keeping the tach below 4k and usually around 1500 - 2000rpm. I'm using premium fuel only. I know the snow and use of the heater contributes to this, but 8 to 10 mpg... really? Oil this get better after my first oil change or...

Thanks, I searched the forum but found nothing specific to this.

Is this based on your own measurements, or on an onboard computer?

The EPA spec. for the FX50 is 14/20, which is very similar to what I experience in my 21 year old Q with .5L less displacement, but more spirited driving than you describe.

I just read this article tonight. Your numbers seem low, regardless of the weather conditions and the fact you are running the heat. Many people have found that the onboard computers are often wrong when it comes to computing gas mileage. I'd check it the old fashioned way. I would probably even go by the dealership and say something to them, although in truth, it probably won't warrant any productive results. Good luck.

Pretty much the same by computer or by manual method. I mentioned it to the dealer over the phone and they said to wait until the first oil change to consider any adjustments. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens before raising it to the next level.

Wow.

Yes, please keep us updated on what you find out (especially the dealer's responsiveness...)

Welcome aboard, Jon - Despite your cruddy mileage, I'm jealous. New FX50 is SO damn sexy. Pics, perhaps?

Hey there,

400 miles... your car has not even broken in yet. I would give it until at least 1000 miles.

The new 7 speed and 2010+ computer programming are extremely adaptive to driver input over a few hundred mile range.

Single digit miles per gallon might be surprising but I think you might not be driving the car enough. I am not advising speeding but you have to let it stretch its legs when possible.

The FX50 is my absolute favorite Infinit(i) of all time it is not the most fuel efficient but I would expect maybe 5 more or so with mixed driving.

At this point I would not recommed anything other than break the car in a little more and don't be so conservative. Infinitis are known for responding better to a little tough love than pampering.

Welcome to the group :dblthumb:

There are not many FX50s on the road but our FX forum has several owners as regulars.

You also might find some interesting info in the EX forum, there are many more people there with similar technology.
