Hello all,

My FX35 has developed a whirring or grinding noise when accelerating and gets worse turning left.
I took a look at the dust cover, and made sure it is not touching the rotor….so that is not it. It has clearance from what I can tell.

Can anyone give me some advice as to what to look for, or what it could be please?
Thanks so much!

Sounds like a wheel bearing. Probably the right if it's louder in left turns, but not necessarily, that depends on which side of the bearing roller is failing. You can't test them with a wheel-shake like old fashioned taper bearings, they can feel perfectly tight but still make God's own racket under load. You have to use a stethoscope, a good bearing will sound like something between dead silence and a passing breeze. The slightest ticking or clicking means it's bad.

Thank you SO much for this info. I was afraid that this was the culprit.
Is it alright to drive the car around 35-45 mph for the next day or two before I can get it in for repairs?
Should I be concerned of damaging something more?

I've actually seen Nissans go 10K miles and more on a bad bearing, they're roller types and it usually takes a loooooooong time for them wear down to the point of being dangerous. I wouldn't worry too much. To be safe, just don't take any long trips with it that might make the bearing run hot.
