2011 EX 35 - Some information

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello

As mentioned in this post (post5839831.html#p5839831) I am providing the community with informaiton I just received from Ottawa Infiniti Dealer. The information adds some information about the 2011 EX35 model. It is meant to augment the press release (which, however, was mostly for US customers). What follows might be applicable to US board members, but I think they are most specific to Canada.

I am cutting and pasting from the email

" (for 2011) Gear Ratios 2010: 1-3 are shorter (more get-up-and go) 4th becomes taller compared to the old 4th gear and now 6th is taller than the old 5th, plus there is also 7th that lowers final rpm another 300-500rpm at cruising 100-120kms +.

The lower gears make for a 1L/100km city improvement and the top gears translate to another 1L/100km highway improvement. Higher kilometer drivers will reap better savings overall. Yes, the package groupings for 2011 are the same as the 2010s in terms of how Journey, Premium and Navi are sequential and build upon one another.

Good news, the tonneau cover is included and the 18" wheels now become standard as does Dual Zone Temperature Control. The price for the 2011 only changes up $950. Premium package now gets 19" wheels. "

I hope this helps someone. I will see how it drives when it arrives.

Thanks for the info.

My experience with this type of transmission, possibly the same as the 2010 G37X sedan, is that the first 3 gears are very short that you need to kindda drag race style the gas pedal to avoid jerky or hesitation from stoplight . I remember when I tried to drive the G37X sedan and I gas it slowly or normally that it makes the car following me to brake bec. he was going to rear end me due to the transmission`s hesitation.

Same thing when I slowly coming off from stoplight and using the manual shifter. I had to shift it quickly and more gas input to avoid hesitation or jerking accelleration. In order to drive this kind of transmission, you really need to half press the gas from stop and not feather it...

Once you hit 3rd gear it was very smooth and fast! That`s from the G37X sedan experienced...

it's going to be closer to the FX35 or the 2009-2010 M35 rwd sedans... both have a 7AT with the 3.5.... which personally i think works smoother than the VVEL 3.7L v6

I just drove a 2011 AWD EX35 at a Canadian dealer. Subjectively, it is noticeably faster and more responsive than the 2010.

I was considering trading my 2006 M35x on a 2010 EX35, but am glad I held off. The 2010 EX35 felt slower and less responsive than my M35x, but the 2011 feels faster and more responsive.

The difference is really very noticeable. I felt the difference before I was out of the parking lot. The new car seems a bit quieter too.

Can't comment on the difference in ride the new wheels make as I was driving only on smooth roads. The ride is quieter than my M35x in either case.

I test drove a 2011 November 2th and a 2010 back to back for a good 30 minutes each in town and on the highway. I did not find as much difference as you did in accelaration on the highway and a little better in town. However, I was comparing the 2010 and 2011 to each other, and to an Acura RSX and both EXs were excellent cars. The difference did not justify the 9k less I paid for a 2010 vs. a 2011. Yep - I pulled the trigger and got an 2010! Should get it November 11th. Can't wait.

I agree that the difference would not justify $9K. Sounds like you got a really good deal. The incentives on EX's around here were considerably less, or I probably would have succumbed too. I am sure you will love the EX.

Well it was in CDN dollars and here they overprice the EX35 compared to the good old USA even if the $ is near par. But yes, I did negotiate hard. Thanks!
