2011 Cube SL crank no start consistent P0340 code and occasional other codes

I've been chasing this for a long time. I have changed cam and crank sensors multiple times. I've probed both connectors as defined in the service manual and found nothing out of line.

Also,(maybe) steering lock inoperable however, the fuse # 44 spot is empty and a very indepth disassembly of the dash failed to find any evidence of a locking mechanism. I've owned the car since New and never had it in the dealer for any steering lock issues.

I've searched online and read everything I can find but nothing has helped. YouTube videos have not helped either.

P0340 is a flatline code for the cam sensor, so if it isn't the sensor itself, it has to be either wiring or connector pin-fits. The latter are a common cause of come-and-go problems on older cars. You can find the ECM pin reference and wiring diagram here starting on page EC-443:

If you don't want to buy a pin-fit tool, a piece of 0.025" music wire or a safety pin with 0.024"~0.026" diameter are good substitutes.

Thank you, I'll run that to ground. I have pin removal tools if I can find the problem.

Any thoughts on the steering lock issues? Does a 2011 Cube have a steering wheel lock mechanism?

Nope, no ESCL on an '11. Nissan actually had a recall to remove them from the '09~'10 Altimas and Maximas, I don't think anything past that had one.

You were right! I installed an engine start switch so I could observe the signals real time while cranking. I bought an oscilloscope and probed the cam sensor connector from the back side. At first I had 5 Vdc on the 1st and third pin, the 2nd was ground. As I probed the 3rd pin I felt the pin click into place and the oscilloscope began showing the 0-5 Vdc square wave and the engine started! Thank you for your help, it is most appreciated!
