2011 Cracked Dashboard

So my next problem is a cracked dashboard. It is cracked exactly along the lines of where the airbag pops out for the front passenger. I have 89,000 miles on my Quest so naturally the stealer says it is out of warranty and so it will take just under $3,000 to repair. $1,800 for the dashboard and $1,200 for the labor. Anyone else seen this problem? I got in touch with Nissan USA and no luck on help with the replacement. The two cracks are exactly where the airbag would pop out of the fash. The cracks are perfectly straight lines. This is clearly a defect to my way of thinking and yet Nissan is wiping their hands. Has anyone else had or seen this problem?
