Hey everyone... sorry if this is a repost, I tried searching the forum but I could not find my answer. I have a 2011 3.5sr coupe. I didn't get any packages, so I don't have the stock HID's... I have the stock hologen projectors. I am looking to have HID's installed on my car... BUT, I am not sure which will be best, and look as close to the stock HID's as possible....many of you may ask.. "why didn't you just get the package?" well it wasn't that easy at the dealership... they didn't have the specific color I wanted... anyway. I am unsure if I should get the 4300k 35w, 4300 55w, or 5000 35w, 5000 55w. Will I have to worry about the cut off of the HID's vs my stock halogen projectors? Also will I have to do any other mod to the stock housing so it won't mess up or "melt" any of the housing? I need some expert advice on what I should do... and the best way of doing it. I definitely want to get HID's installed, because the halogen projectors are not bright at all... so I am looking to get it done ASAP but I just need some opinions or expert advice, please! thanks.

ive got 4300k HID on my 2010 (same as 2011). I have them on my low beams and fog lights. the 55w burn brighter, so for example, a 35w 7000k kit would look bluer than a 55w 7000k kit. Many people suggest not have 55w for fogs since those DO tend to cause melting. The cut off will be the same with the HIDs. Trust me, you will LOVE the HIDs. You're driving blind right now. Install wasn't too bad. I didn't feel like taking off the bumper so i just turned the wheels all the way to one side and went in through the wheel wells. took me about 30 minutes to do one side and 5 to do the other

ok cool... thanks for the information. 4300K 35w it is! I was just a little concerned about 55w being "too bright" for other cars, and getting too hot for the housing.... or causing me to be a red flag for the cops LOL. Also any specific brand or site you suggest I order from? I also read something about relay.... I have no idea what that is or if i need it! thanks again!

DDM Tuning seems to be a favorable brand. For our cars we do not need relays (at least my car doesn't since they took off the AUTO ON headlights feature when they installed my fogs). Word of advice though, do NOT run your lights when the vehicle is off. Always turn the HIDs on after your turn on the car and turn them off before you turn the car off. Over time the ballasts take a beating and they don't like the change it power they receive. Not all ballasts burn out after time, but I know a lot of people who have burned them because of this. I'm almost at about 2 years and not a single problem with mine. My parents on the other hand forget when to switch them on and off and they've burned out two ballasts.

Ok cool... thanks for the heads up. Do you have stock HID's? If not, which color and wattage do you have on yours? I was doing some additional research today as well as a previous response, and really thinking if I should get 4500 55w from DDM. I am just concerned about getting "flashed" or blinding other drivers or melting the halogen projector housing over time.

I run 30watt hids on my altima with stock projectors and they are PLENTY bright enough. I would never put 55w bulbs in these housings

Yeah I was concerned about 55w... thanks for the reply. Man you don't know how much time I have spent researching online and... checking out youtube videos. I just wanna be sure I get something that I won't regret. I saw this brand called xentec on ebay... they are pretty reasonable, and have 99.9% positive feedback, then I found another blog that said xentec are junk and not to get them. I keep hearing good things about DDM, so that's where I will go, I guess! LOL

I wouldn't get the 55w. I like how it looks but I think they're way too bright for other drivers, especially if you're going in the 4000-6000 kelvin range. I always know when a TL is coming up to me and its usually not a good feeling =/

Make sure you also get ballasts and not just bulbs.

Thanks again. Is it me or do the stock halogen projectors NOT seem bright at all?? They (and the Maxima's stock halogen projectors) seem to give less light than a lot of halogen projectors... I wonder why that is??

I ordered mine through DDM tuning and I'm really happy with them. The shipping took a while because they came from China, but the quality is good and they've lasted me 3,000 miles now with no problems at all

Thanks... I was just on their site and they didn't have 4300k, they had 4500k. So I guess the 4500k 35w is the closest to stock hid's I'm gonna get huh? Hopefully it won't take too long. I was thinking about going to a auto tune place around my area (DC Metro Area) and just having them install HID's for me....but IDK. 2 of them emailed me back and said they don't carry 4300k only 6000 and higher... and the one said 4300k is bright yellow and usually people only get them in fog lights... but from what i see 4300k is more like an off white/very faint lilac color.... maybe I'm just color blind! LOL

If you do get them def go with the 35 watt ones. 55 watt is a bit overkill especially if you're planning on getting some for your fogs. That may cause some melting. As for temperature,35w, 4300K is what you usually see on new cars that have HID's stock, like Lexus' and others. 35w 6000k has a hint of blue but not overkill still a lot of light output. Like everyones saying check out DDM their great, i've ordered dozens of their slim ballast kits for myself and friends. Can't go wrong with price and lifetime warranty. (At least they had it when i bought them)
Have fun!

I did finally order the DDM 4500k 35w. I got an email saying it was fulfilled on Monday, which sounds pretty fast compared to what I have heard about DDM and their shipping. Someone had mentioned I should not turn my lights on while the car is off or turn them off after I turn off the car. Does that mean I should not use my auto on/off feature for my headlights? Also does anyone have any pics of their altima coupe with the DDM 4500 or any 4500k kit?

some people have had problems with the auto on/off feature, saying they misfire. plenty don't have any problems. just test it for yourself, use the auto headlight feature and if you get a lot of misfires, then just manually turn on your headlights every time, no big deal.

i've had ddm tuning hid's (6000k) for 3 years with like 2 misfires with the auto headlight feature

The problem is that they ship from China. It took around 3 weeks for mine to show up.

I replaced my stock HID bulbs w 5000k DDM tuning bulbs and have been having one of my headlights misfire. Could the bulb be causing this or is just a coincidence that a few days after switching my bulbs out that they started misfiring? I think (not positive though, I'll have to check later) it happens regardless of the auto feature or just turning them on.
