I have a 2011 m37x with premium option (whatever option it was to get nav and speakers in both front seats by the shoulders).

I am looking to upgrade my audio. Need more power and better eq than stock.

Here's my thing - I don't want to lose OEM nav or the functionality it gives me (menus, Bluetooth etc)

What's the best way to add some power and eq options? I'd rather not replace the speakers unless they are crap.. I know very little about their quality.

At the end of the day I want better sound, more power and eq adjustability while maintaining the interior as is.

I bring this up because I was using an iPhone app called mytunes and it sounded incredible but as I turned up the volume it started to clip.

Any advice is appreciated.

I would suspect the iPhone app, as it "enhances" sound. Have you listened to a DVD at the same volume?

This app is called mytunes by srs labs.

Forgetting the app, I am reading about these devices called factory sound processors or sonething by like jbl, Rockford etc that go between car factory "amp" and speakers that strip the factory limits and allow for clean audio to each speaker. Is this what I need?

All I want to do is allow for louder / better sound from factory speakers wit some eq options.

Any pros on here? What do I need to do? Amps? The processor thing I mentioned? Will I need new speakers? I like the system it just needs more "umph" and some eq-ability.

I don't want to lose the 5.1 I have or the fake 5.1 I have they way the stock option works with my music. I enjoy that. Again, just want a little more power and have it sound good at a higher volume.

Forgive my ignorance on this. I know very little about this stuff.

Thanks again.

Sorry. The app is really pushing too much I suppose. System is fine at same volume on any source. As I turn up the amp on the app it will clip.

But the app made the music sound incredible until pushed hard.

I would like that sound from all sources.

Thanks

Perhaps there is a volume setting in the app itself? It might be increasing the volume of the music (similar to what the "loudness" button does on aftermarket radios)... but in turn this causes the distortion near peak. If there was a way to turn down the volume/processing within the app, you may have a winner.

You must have really good ears! Someone like me is more than happy with the stock system.

Anyway, take a look at this: http://www.amazon.com/JBL-MS-8-MS-Digit ... B003KN2TQ2 I know someone over at JBL. I can ask if they would recommend it and all, but it might be quicker to get answers from a local high end shop (although the shop might be biased towards ripping everything out & selling you a whole new system, which seems foolish to me). Best of luck in your endeavors!

I actually dont have a good ear for hearing audio differeces thats why this blew me away - really - give the app a try - its free but full use will cost as an in app purchase. But you get a few free minutes each day to listen fully with the app.

The JBL MS-8 was onf of the items I was looking at. Does anyone have any info on this in their Infiniti? Would I also need an amp or maybe speakers? I will probably go to a shop but I dopnt want a new systems - just add some umph and eq options AND have it retain factory head and uses.

Thanks for the info!!

I mentioned this in another post somewhere. I had the jl cleansweep in my aftermarket system because I wanted the same thing, oem controls, stock dash, but with aftermarket sound. It's ok, but then I threw out the cleansweep for the audison bit one. Its on the high end, and the sound is just amazing. I did change out my mids/tweets to hertz components but the sound mapping when installed correctly is hard to beat. crisp and clean.
