One more thing tipping the scales slightly in favor of the Camaro for me. I LOVE the new Mustang, but the Camaro gets both of these

(LS3 V8 and LFX V6)

And doesn't have trans problems.

Win and agreed. The last Mustang I liked was the late 60s model Fastback.

I've been a Mustang guy for years, but the current generation of "affordable" ones do not interest me. Now a Shelby or a Boss on the other hand, that's a completely different story...

If I were going out to buy a NEW 2dr muscle car right now, it would be a CTS-V coupe or a Camaro. The only reason it wouldn't only be the CTS-V coupe, is i'm still not sold on how it looks from the rear

Sorry, but as much of a Mustang guy that I am, a Mustang is in no way even 15% better than the new Camaro, much less 100% :poke:

The Camaro has a better drivetrain and suspension, no matter which model you choose, and with the ZL1 coming soon, I am even losing interest in the Shelby as well.

I wonder if this is the 1st to 4th shift I've read about. Under a certain RPM and certain MPH you can't shift from 1st into 2nd or 3rd, only 4th and above are available. This was purposely designed by Ford, it even reads some type of econo mode occurs when you are forced to do this.

Corvettes and quite a few other cars are this way too. It helps meet EPA requirements. It's silly. But it's also not the problem in question.

The transmission issue is old news, this is about consumers taking action against Ford to fix their craptastic transmission.

Not really Ford's transmissions -_-

Edit: Anyways, I wonder how the future Jatco CVT systems are going to be like, if they can't build a manual transmission right, a CVT is going to be a lot more fun to build.

Jatco doesn't make any of the Mustang's transmissions, manual or auto. The manuals are Tremecs and the autos are ZF or Ford C3 (which predates any form of Jatco by a good long while).

Theoretically, there's a lot less to go wrong in a CVT, and they SHOULD be simpler.

I'm talking about the Nissan CVT's, IIRC they were opening up a new plant in China.

I've had someone say the link doesn't work for them so here it is, in its entirety.

The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation into 26,000 manual-equipped Ford Mustangs from model years 2011 to 2012, the organization said on Sunday. NHTSA has received 32 complaints of an inability to shift gears, some nearly resulting in crashes.

The complaints range from the grinding of gears to the complete lockout of others. One owner said that after six trips to the dealership, the problem still wasn't solved. The alleged issue exists on both V6 and V8 Mustangs.

The current Mustang uses the MT82 transmission, built by Getrag at a joint-venture plant in China. The Land Rover Defender uses the same unit and has reported experienced similar problems.

The investigation by NHTSA, which could last up to a year, is the first step before deciding whether an engineering analysis is warranted. If more evidence is found, a recall could be initiated. Ford could also voluntarily recall the cars.

I see. Your comment about not being able to build a manual trans made me think you were linking Jatco with the Mustang problem. Jatco WAS originally a Nissan/Ford joint venture, so I assumed you had a crossed wire somewhere. :)

losing synchros sucks.

though when I had the clutch in the Civic decide to pop springs out of the pressure plate to where the pedal wouldn't even budge, that was significantly more suck.

especially the driving it 30 miles instead of having it towed part.
