I picked up my 2010 Versa and drove it about 10 miles. I had some brake pedal shudder/feedback. I thought maybe just a little surface rust had accumulated from sitting on the lot. At 200 miles the pedal pulsates during breaking and the steering wheel will just about shake your hand off of it. The A/C compressor cycles in and out constantly. The "Service Engine Soon" light came on at 220 miles. There is a howling hoise coming from the engine at approx. 2500-3000rpm.

-Update from Nissan at 5:00pm today: "Yes sir, your A/C compressor is bad and we have to replace it. The brake rotors are warped, so we are going to have to resurface them. We haven't gotten to the noise in the engine yet or the "Service Engine Soon" light."

Great quality control! I traded in my '06 Titan that was plagued with mechanical issues. What happened to Nissan? They used to have excellent vehicles!

I'll post more as the story develops.

Sorry to hear about all of your bad luck.

Most of us on here have had little to no issues with our Versa's. For most, we've only had to have the Fuel Pressure Regulator replaced. Other than that, some have reached 200,000 miles on their Versa's with no major problems.

Keep us updated on what the dealership says/does.

Well, I can say this: I bought a '10 Versa at the end of '09 and was in a head-on collision 9 days later (403 miles on it) at about 50mph with a Honda Accord and walked away from it. The car was totalled. I got banged up a bit, but all in all, it could have been MUCH WORSE. They are well-built for taking a big bang like that. This current Versa has really dampened my spirits so far. I'm hoping once they get these issues resolved, it'll run/act right like the Nissans that I've had in the past. It's just very bothersome to have a brand new car have those kind of issues. Especially after getting rid of a Titan that had so many issues. I'm thinking Nissan's quality control is in toilet right now. I know every brand has their ups and downs, but geesh.......

It's no secret that the Titan has had a couple problems in the past, but the Versa overall has been pretty reliable. Not everyone gets a perfect car, that what manufacturing entails. It sucks getting a car with a couple bugs, but give it time to settle in and get fixed up by the dealer. That's what a warranty is for, fixing things that need to be fixed.

And Nissan's quality isn't in the toilet.

"A couple of problems"? The Titan is plagued - axels seizing, bearings failing, differentials fragmenting, engine mounts shearing, transmission mounts tearing, 4x4's failing to go into 4-wheel fresh off the lot resulting in broken front axels, transfer cases splitting, exhaust manifold cracking, etc.....Well, let's stay on the Versa topic here. Every manufacturer has their problem children, I understand that. I'm giving the dealer the chance to make it right and I'll go from there. I will be interested in finding a better spring for it eventually. The ride is very soft/spongy. I know alot of it has to do with the tires that are on it. I just want it operating correctly to start with, then build from there.

Not sure if you bought your Versa with 0 mileage, but sounds like someone took your Versa for a nice joy ride to warp the rotors like that LOL

Hey Junk, I too traded in my 08 Nissan Titan for a 2010 1.8 S versa. The Titan was just to expensive to maintain for my budget sadly, gawd I'll miss that V8. My only gripe on my versa is the fliping driver seat, not comfortable at all. I'm hoping when i install the center armrest it will help alot.

I loved the V8, except for when it came time to give her something to drink. I could pass just about everything on the street except a gas station. I haven't had my Versa long enough to know whether or not I'll like it. The first one was totalled at 403 miles, the 2nd one is in the shop for multiple repairs at 250 miles. Hopefully I'll get it back today and try this "new car" thing again. I'll post as things develop

07/13/10 - I just picked up the car from the dealer. I've only driven about 25 miles post-repair. The brakes are substantially better, the compressor doesn't cycle nearly as much and the air seems to maintain 'cold' better, and the Check Engine light was attributed to the make-ready not properly closing the fuel tank cap (I'm skeptical about this diagnosis, but I am taking into consideration the evap-emission standards in place on newer vehicles and that other users have had the same diagnosis). Time will tell. At the current time, things look to be handled properly. I'll post another update in about 200 miles and see if things are still on track.

I've had my SES light come on 3 times in the last 3 weeks because of the cap. It's apparently more sensitive than I thought. If it continues, drop it back by the dealer for a cap swap. I swapped my cap yesterday after the thrid time the light came on. The light didn't come on when I drove to work.

Glad to hear the car is back to running right. Enjoy it.

Yeah, I'll keep that in mind. I went through the same thing with my Chevrloet Silverado in '05-'06. The light would come on every 3-4000 miles. Ridiculous that a fuel cap can cause an error code to appear even when it's properly installed. One of the techs said "roll the o-ring over and try it again." So I rolled the o-ring 180 degrees and the light stayed off for about 25,000 miles. If they are going to be that sensitive, they need to redesign the caps and prevent this nuisance.
