You guys are absolutely right, if everybody preferred the manual shift then manufacturers would be sure to give them to us. But, sadly, you can't drink a coffee, send a text message and talk on your phone while driving and putting on make-up AND shift gears, people have too many other things on their minds to be bothered with shifting.

As a side note, one vehicle I thoght was cool was the Mazda5 small minivan, it had a manual shift base model and they always had lots of them around my area. Remember the commercial, the "cool" young couple with the baby in the back, driving the cool Mazda5 and shifting gears....that was a good commercial and got me excited for the vehicle. Sadly the vehicle wasn't quite what I wanted upon closer inspection, a little too small and low to the ground, but a unique and fun idea. And how often can you say any vehicle is unique anymore? Welll the Mazda5 still is unique, to my knowledge, not many extra small minivans driving around. Gotta give them credit for focussing on fun manual shift driving, which is why I'm surprised their crossover CX7 and CX9 don't follow this convention and offer a manual.

But the Rogue is so much better in a lot of ways.

Go drive one, then let us know how you feel. The 2009 NACOTY was the Hyundai Genesis.

As much as I have respect for Hyundai (they do produce inexpensive and seemingly reliable cars), I still prefer my Nissan's.

I hope this thread does not get too carried away.... it's still the Rogue forum after all...

In my opinion, the Rogue is going to have to offer a 6-speed manual option or it's going to get killed by this new Tucson. My wife is shopping it hard, and her excitement is really building momentum since she hasn't found one competitor which offers the manual 6-speed. And the American pricing is set to start at around $18,900 which is really aggressive, much cheaper than everyone else.

Kerrton, did you go to the Hyundai Canada website? The new Tucson is out, and I have a bad news for you (and me), it will be far from killing the Rogue: The tucson in Canada with manual shift is only offered as base model, and only in FWD (In the US, manual is only for FWD model, don't know if it is only for base model). And it seems you don't have handbrake on the auto shift models.

That is going to be a big Nono from my part. Another big NoNo (deal killer?) is the fuel tank of only 55l: Totally ridiculous.

Price wise, they don't seem to that affordable: They start at CAD$22,999 but it is for the base model. An equivalent of the Rogue SL AWD is just less than $1,000 cheaper which is not a deal killer and remember that the Tucson is smaller.

Guys, The Rogue is still out there, good and sound, as competitive as it was when it begun .

Saw a Tucson recently at a local dealership. It was a manual. I thought it looked pretty okay in person.

All those angles on the dash would make me dizzy.
