Hey all,

My rear rotors seem to be a bit warped, and we just bought the Rogue in February, so I decided to do pads and rotors all around.

The front rotors were actually not in terrible shape, but I changed them out anyways.

Got parts for all 4 corners from RockAuto:

Brand Part Number Part Type Price EA Quantity Total Total
RAYBESTOS 980113R Rotor CAD$ 23.02 2 CAD$ 46.04 CAD
RAYBESTOS 980637R Rotor CAD$ 33.55 2 CAD$ 67.10 CAD
RAYBESTOS SGD1338C Brake Pad CAD$ 20.61 1 CAD$ 20.61 CAD
RAYBESTOS SGD1288C Brake Pad CAD$ 24.18 1 CAD$ 24.18 CAD

$150 CAD so not so bad.

I finally got around to putting them on. Figured 2 hours front 2 hours back.

So far, I've only gotten the fronts done. The bottom pins on both front calipers were totally seized. Spent about an hour on both sides getting the old pin out. As I don't have the pin kits, I used sandpaper and penetrating oil on both the pin and inside the caliper, then greased with synthetic brake lube.

Hoping to get to the rears tonight. I have a feeling I will run into the same issue with the seized pins, as I do get a lot of 'metal on metal' sound when taking tight corners. I have a feeling the inside pad will be completely worn away, and the outside pad will be brand new. We shall see!

Clean them up and lube them each spring so it doesn't happen again. Salt and water cause them to seize. Seizing causes premature wear.

did the rears tonight. They were in perfect shape, and probably wouldn't have needed doing for another 50k kms or so. Oh well, I had the parts and I put them on.

The pins in the rear were in perfect shape. I noticed that the parking brake shoes were not that thick, but I never use the parking brake so not worried about that.

It still makes noise when at full lock in forward or reverse. Anybody know what that's from?

Just thought about this.

One of the reasons I did replace the rear rotors was due to some chatter and surging, which means they are warped. That issue is now gone, so I am happy I didn't waste $150... :)

Also the front pads were worn out on the inside due to the seized caliper pins. I think I might spring for the pin and boot kit for both sides, should be about $30. Should help reduce the risk of seizing in the next little bit at least. I found it odd that both of them seized, with no obvious damage to the boots or evidence of lack of grease. Its almost like it was overheated, as the grease was all dried out.

Took a good hour on the one side, and 2 hours on the other to get the pins out.

Make sure you use the correct lube. The slide pins have a rubber part on the end and the wrong lube will cause it to swell and make it stick.

You want to use Silicone like this, https://www.amazon.com/Napa-7651346-Sil ... entries*=0
