The pass. side low beam is out. The bulb tests good in the other light assembly and the 15A fuse tests good.
The local dealer wants $570 ( US) for a ballast + about $350 to install it. :ohno:
I've found ballasts on Amazon for $50-60 and now I'm wondering what the procedure for the replacement is.

Any help?

Just about every ballast for a Japanese brand comes out of a Matsushita plant in China or elsewhere in the Far East, so by and large the aftermarket ones are fine. Make sure you get an ignitor with it (the steel socket and steel-jacketed wire), they fail about as often as the ballasts do. Sometimes the ballasts on the passenger side can be changed out from beneath the car by pulling back the inner wheel well cover and dropping the washer tank, but frankly it's almost as much work as popping the bumper skirt to remove the headlight, and it may not let you swap the ignitor.

I was afraid that changing it was not going to be easy. :frown:
Messing with the bumper looks to be a 2 person job and I don't have anyone available to help so I'll look into the wheel well method.
Thanks for the info.

The whole bumper rarely needs to come off to remove one headlight, but accessing some of the screws with only half of it loose may require a long extension and a 10mm swivel socket.

I replaced my igniter and ballast and I'm not talented. Screws in wheel well and some in engine area. Held bumper skirt with extension cord to raised hood. Followed YouTube video somewhat.

Yep. I use bungees in the shop, but it's rarely necessary to pop the whole bumper cover. :dblthumb:

Nissan Rogue headlight replacement, but I held bumper cover up not taking it fully off.
