I've searched the forum for exterior door handles breaking but haven't found any threads specifically about it so, has anyone experienced the exterior driver side door handle breaking off in your hand? Just wondering if mine was a fluke or if this has been a known issue. Mine was built 1/10 so I expect it is just a one off kind of thing but I'd like to be sure before going to get it fixed.

I guess I should have said none of the threads seemed to apply to my situation. The others discuss doors not opening or cold weather issues. I'm in Florida in 70 and 80 degree temps and the door handle literally broke off as I began to open the door. If there are threads discussing this issue, I missed them.

Yup. Completely separated from the car leaving two holes in the door. One side looks as though a piece of metal? plastic? just broke away from something in the door. The inside door release still works.

That's why I always tell my daughter to let me open the doors because of her short stature and using her weight at times to hang on it, I feel it would break off. I never felt confident on the durability of these rogue handles.

I already let her enter the right passenger door to get to her seat behind the drivers side because I am scared the inner door workings would break again. I still open it to get her out, but I minimize it's use.

Back in the day I had to Mcguyver a fix to allow me to open the door from the outside. It saved me a dealer repair of nearly $600. SO far so good. But it was a pain in the A*^$ and took all day and alot of luck to make it work! If I had the money then, I probably let them do it right.

But keeping my fingers crossed for now. :ohno:

Wow...got it repaired this morning. $280-ish for parts and labor. I hope the others hold up. The service rep told me he recently had to replace all four on a Murano. He said they are known for having bad door handles.
