Hello. New to the forum. I've searched everything I can think of and not really finding any answers to my issue.

I'm having a few issues with a Nissan Rogue I recently bought. The airbag light is flashing, the horn doesn't work and the cruise control will not turn on (cannot even get the cruise light to turn on in the instrument cluster). When I put the airbag light in to diagnostic mode using the reset procedure I get 1 blink and a pause followed by two more blinks and the sequence repeats. The horn doesn't work at all and like I said, the cruise control doesn't work at all. Is it possible that all three of these problems are related since they all run through the steering column? Strangely enough all of the bluetooth controls on the left side of the steering column work fine.

Thanks for the help.

Have you checked all of the fuses and relays?

Do you know the history of the vehicle, was the steering wheel ever removed?

It sounds like your spiral cable might be broken or not connected.

If the steering wheel was removed and the spiral cable was allowed to over-turn, the ribbon cable will break and resulting in no connection to some or all of the steering wheel including horn, driver airbag and steering wheel switches including cruise and audio. Do the switches light up at night, and do you have audio steering switches that work?

If disconnected, you will need to reconnect. Remove the column trim covers and see if the two connectors are plugged in near the wheel. If I recall, it's a yellow and a gray one.

Bought the car for my wife about a week ago. Haven't had much time with the vehicle other than to change the oil/filter and air filters. I had a stealership flush the CVT fluid. I attempted to check the fuses late one night, but got frustrated in the dark. I couldn't get the horn relay out and haven't had another chance to look at it. I'll finally have some time tomorrow that I can check all of the fuses/relays properly in the daylight.

The only history that I'm aware of on the vehicle is that it was a repo, the front right quarter panel and rear bumper have been repainted (possible minor fender bender), but the title is clean (no salvage). I'm unsure of whether it was in an accident or if the airbag(s) deployed. My assumption is that the driver airbag deployed and that it was repaired incorrectly.

All of the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel work (audio controls, bluetooth/phone controls), none of the buttons on the right side work (cruise control), the horn doesn't work, and the airbag light blinks. I think you might be on to something with the spiral cable issue. Is it possible to remove the airbag module and check the spiral cable without special tools that only the dealer/auto repair places have? I'm really interested to know what this diagnostic code for the airbag means.

You can check if the horn relay works by pushing the panic on your keyless remote. If the horn sounds, it works.

You can check for continuity through your spiral cable for the parts that don't work. Check the FSM for the pinouts and circuit of the spiral cable and check both ends for continuity with a multimeter. Be careful not to bend or spread the terminals.

Be very careful when handling airbags, follow the precautions in the FSM. You should check if the driver airbag is connected. The connectors have a secondary black slider lock that needs to be in all the way to be property seated, purple sometimes don't know how to put it back in correctly, Google some photos of Nissan driver airbag connector to see what it would look like when properly installed..
