2010 North American Nissan Convention

Hey everyone, just a notice for those of you who don't ever get out of general chat...

We've launched registration for the 2010 North American Nissan Convention. This is a NICO sponsored event that we are hosting! No piggy-backing off another event, this is a true NICO event. We're running the show!

Events include a track day, drift day, rally cross, drag racing, car show, awards, raffle prizes, BBQ, you name it! We have a forum set up for this event already here: zeroforum?id=329

We encourage you to go there, read up about the event, the history, the pictures, and register for what will be the biggest and best event all year long! We hope to make it an annual tradition that NICO hosts it, but we have to get the support this first year. So make sure you try to make it! If we don't get the support the first year, we will loose the opportunity to continue hosting it. So be there or be lame!

Omaha Nebraska huh...

I have only heard great things about this event but my question is, who comes up with the locations? Was it one of those "meet every one half way" kind of things?

Locations in the past have bounced around from east to west coast depending on who stepped up to the plate to organize it.

I raised my hand at the 08 convention and said I'm going to plan 2010 with the support of NICO. And we're making it a convention for all models, not just se-r's. We chose Road America at first because 2009 was on the east coast and 2008 was on the west coast. We had problems getting Road America reserved and they tried to change their prices on us, so we looked for an alternate track in the same region of the country. This is what we came up with.

Look through the history on the convention website and you'll see that it's been everywhere from Los Angeles to New York over the years.

We used to do events at VIR, but the attendance sucked.

MAM is an amazing venue - Bex and I went out there to scout it in October, spent 2 days in Omaha and at the track, and actually got in some track time... Amazing facility!

I was surprised, but Omaha is a BEAUTIFUL city. Never realized it was as nice as it is.

This one's gonna be a blast - Tons of track time on one of the best courses in the US, for not a lot of $$$.

)= I think you misunderstood, but that's to be expected of my too short reply. I wasn't laughing at Nebraska, i was just laughing because SINCE it's in Nebraska, there is no way i can afford to go )= I almost made it to the thing in Carlisle last year but my car got hit a month before and i didn't find a ride in time. These events look like they are a lot of fun i always want to meet the nissan owning strangers i encounter on the internets in real life and a Nissan convention guarantees there will be enthusiasts aplenty. I have never been to Nebraska but i am sure that the state and its inhabitants could only make me phenomenally more happy than Virginia, all we have is VIR and i have never been there either lol my car would die on the way out of nervousness.

All good, yo. Don't let the distance scare you - It's not an awful drive from ANYWHERE in the US.

For those of you who think it's gonna be prohibitively expensive, the track is allowing on-site camping (bring a tent = no hotel expense), and food at the track is a lot cheaper than we've seen at other venues.

I'll second that -- Omaha is a pretty decent place. These corn states are speckled with midsize and large cities with lots to do.

You can have it on the grounds, just not on the track.

i wanna go so bad, it just depends if they move my deployment date back a little bit. im scheduled for may, hoping to go end on june. and if i do get to go, anyone from fl, ga, or sc wanna meet up somewhere and drive together? im in sc, 45 mins east of columbia.

Also, for those of you on local forums, we could use some help getting the word out.

If attendance is good at this one, the next one will be at an even BIGGER and more impressive venue!

Alternatively, if attendance is sub-par, we will have to strongly consider whether it;s worth putting on future track events...

So, any help we can get is appreciated!
