The Nissan Versa continues its strong appeal in the marketplace among buyers seeking fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance or roominess. Versa again features one of the highest standard horsepower/torque ratings and the largest interior in the entry-level segment – along with offering one of the lowest priced new vehicles available in the United States, the high-value Versa Sedan 1.6 model with 5-speed manual transmission.

The front-wheel drive Versa is available in two body styles, a 5-door hatchback and 4-door sedan. Versa Hatchback and Versa Sedan models are offered with a long list of standard and available equipment, including available Nissan Intelligent Key™, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately) and an audio system with Clarion speakers and Rockford Fosgate-powered subwoofer.

The 2010 Nissan Versa, which goes on sale in September 2009, features a number of refinements, including a new grille design, new sport front and rear fascias, body side sills, fog lights and rear spoiler for Versa Hatchback SL models, new wheel treatments and revised interior fabrics and finishers. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is now standard for 1.8 S models, along with standard ABS and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) for 1.8 SL models.

The 2010 Nissan Versa is available in four models: Versa Sedan 1.6 Base and Versa Sedan 1.6 with 107-horsepower 1.6-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine and 5-speed manual transmission; and Versa Hatchback and Sedan 1.8 S and 1.8 SL with 122-horsepower 1.8-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine and choice of 6-speed manual, 4-speed automatic or Xtronic CVT™ transmission (CVT available on Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL only).

Revisions for 2010 include:

•New front grille design•New sport front and rear fascias, body side sills and rear spoiler on Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL•Revised 15-inch wheel covers and 15-inch aluminum-alloy wheels•New 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheel available on Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL •Standard fog lights added on Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL•New Navigation/XM Satellite Radio Package added•Power and Cruise combined into Power Plus Package•Moonroof Package now available Versa Hatchback only•Auxiliary input added to base audio system, Interface System for iPod® added to upper grade radio•Revised fabrics and finishers, SL Sport interior now standard on Versa Hatchback SL with charcoal interior•Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) added to Versa 1.8 S models•ABS and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) now standard for Versa 1.8 SL models, VDC optional for 1.8 S models

That's good news to hear. If the grille is getting a redesign, is the new grille backwards compatible with the older V?

Has anybody installed ABS on a non-ABS V, or is it even possible?

No one has that I know of. Its kind of like adding AC afterwords. Something that should be bought with the car and not added, just too much of a hassle.

FYI, that's a Sentra.

But they will likely share much of the same appearance, as the Sentra grows a bit.

It's supposed to be a speculation on the front design. Yes, they did a poor job of selecting a Sentra platform. I could have done a far better photoshop

This pic rears its ugly head about once a year on this forum. There are at least three existing threads on how crappy it is and why some online magazines are running it in articles. Anyway, its not an official depiction of anything to do with a Versa. Its just some kid's late night doodling.

Note the road, the reflections on the glass, etc...

The 2010 Versa Hatchback should be released Monday August 3rd.

I know this because I am picking up our new 2009 Versa on Sunday August 2nd at the dealer, and thats just how my life works. Actually, the new 2010 will probably be getting unloaded from the truck as I am driving away in the 2009. I want a 2010, but have a Cash for Clunkers trade and the Cash for Clunkers program is running out of money fast, and probably won't last past the middle of August. If I waited, the 2010's wouldn't get here till late September. Now that I have bought an 09, the release date will be moved up several weeks!

Yes, you can all thank me for the release of the 2010 model!

the Nissan Leaf was unvailed over the weekend looks to me that it could be the next gen versa 2012 or seperate model using nissan EV technology based on the vesa?

Quote from this site

Quote »While there will probably be a few discreet changes to the Leaf (non-showcar paint, slightly different interior fabrics, etc.), this isn't a concept vehicle – Nissan assured us that you are looking at the Real McCoy, the vehicle headed for select American, Japanese, and European showrooms next year. I would buy one if the battery charge lasted longer than 100 miles. Around 1000 miles sounds more reasonable. So if you live in an apartment complex and there's no garage to use, how are you going to charge the Leaf at night? Can the batteries only be purchased through Nissan or can you go to a local autoparts store such as Checkers or Autozone or Walmart and buy them?

Give the technology another 10 years and it will be in the mainstream use and we will slowly go away from being an oil based economy. Kudos to Nissan for being the first in the Japanese auto industry to go all electric. Until then, use all the oil you want!

It's doubtful stores like Walmart and such will ever carry replacement batteries for these style electric cars. Imagine the number of batteries that would end up in the dump and be a potential environmental headache. Instead I would expect legislation to force electric car owners to utilize dealerships or certified repair shops in order to ensure the batteries are properly recycled. Of course, that adds expense too.

I think you are right because I was just going to post this link:http://translate.google.com/tr...UTF-8

It is a Thai site, so initially I was not sure about what they say, but with Google I translated the site, and from what I can understand now, the new Tiida/Versa will look like the Renault Megane and the Leaf looks a little bit like the Megane on the site.

I like it!

And, in keeping with tradition, we'll have a Nissan Leaf forum up and running before the car ever sees US soil.

Remember, the Versa and Megane are not related. I don't see why they'd have any notable styling commonalities being entirely different cars. I could be wrong, though. That Megane is pretty decent looking, actually. Kind of reminds me of the Mazda 3.

Battery tech does not exist for a 1000 mile range electric, or electrics would already be selling well. Not even an internal combustion car can get 1000 miles out of a fillup without a massive, massive tank (assuming 30mpg, you'd need a 33 gallon tank!) and gasoline is a more energy-dense storage medium than batteries (you can store a lot more power as gasoline than in a battery with current technology). As with all modern electric cars, the batteries are not just regular lead-acid starter batteries. Traditional car batteries are not designed for long term high-load operation. Nissan worked with electronics giant NEC to develop a new lithium ion battery for this car specifically. I'm sure other companies will develop "alternative" solutions for Leaf batteries, but considering the source and specialized nature of the OEM batteries, I can't see them living up to those you'd get through Nissan.

Relax... I'm just quoting (or trying to) from the link I posted... I know the Megane is not the Versa's platform, but c'mon, look at the pictures, the front from the Megane is very similar to the front from the Leaf, and the overall shape is as well... Also, Megane, Clio, etc. are Renault, and the truth is Nissan is using the same platforms as Renault so it wouldn't be a surprise to have a new Versa similar to the Megane (if the Leaf is really the new Versa)...

We are all speculating now, let's just wait...

My sister had rabbits when I was a kid and we found out I'm allergic to them. Just getting close to a live rabbit will make my eyes swell and my throat start to close up. If I stay too long I start to turn blue due to lack of oxygen

Really sux.....
