I am currently doing grad work and live in WI. It is very cold (parked outside) so I start up my car to warm it as I scrape the ice off of it. I close the door, because I am parked on the street, and sometimes the vehicle locks the door when I am scraping ice. The first time it happened I had to go back inside to get the spare key. Is there a way to disable the autolock when the car is parked and idling in Park?

BTW first post!!! :)

I can not even lock myself out of my 2008 as long as the battery in the key fob is still good. If I was to leave my keys in the car then it will just give me a couple of rapid beeps and it unlocks itself. You do not need to keep the key in the car while the engine is going. Do you not keep your intelli key on yourself while youre scraping ice? If you do keep your intelli key on yourself and it happens to lock then all you need to do is press on the button on the back side of the remote and get the physical key and unlock it by putting your key in the door lock and open that way(like the olden days haha). Also, Im not sure how cold it is where you live but when its -5F and below, the key fob battery starts to go which could cause the intelli key to not register when its in the vehicle.

With the manual keys, if you unlock the car with the remote they will relock after some period of time. Can't remember how long but it is on the order of a few minutes (it is in the manual). The manual says that the doors will not lock if the key is in the ignition but I have not tested this. When I use my after market remote starter and then open the door locks with the remote, they will relock after a few minutes. I don't remember seeing anything in the manual on disabling this "feature".

the dealer might be able to stop that feature, using their computers. i know in many other cars(usually American) can also disable any seat-belt chimes, etc. id call your local dealer and explain to them the issue.

here is my suggestion if they charge to much: go to your local hardware store or whoever 'cuts' key's. ask them to make a copy - minus any chip programing(which costs a lot more) and simply make a key copy. melt any plastic that the handle portion of the key has, and slip it into your wallet. it might end up looking like this nissan key blade here:

Thanks! But being in a different state, I am no where near the dealer I bought it from. Will any dealer do it? (because it is under factory warrantee until summer) Thanks a lot!

it doesnt matter. go to any dealer or call any dealer and ask if they can do this for you. if one can, they all can. they all have the same tools and training. unless of course you bought your car from a nissan dealer that sells only the rogue? :squint: (sarcasm)
