Good afternoon everyone. I am new to this forum.. and to be honest I have never registered on any forum before. Browsing through the site.. good stuff!

I have a 2010 Armada, and would like to enable all the navigation, radio, and etc. screens that are disabled while driving. I am not very inclined to do the modifications myself. I live in Mound Mn (Mpls Area) Is there someone that you could recommend that I could have do the proper installation for me.

thanks

If you can make it to Green Bay, I would love to do it for you! It is sooooooo worth it! Best modification ever especially for the price.

My brother in law is from Green Bay.. So, I can probably make it work. How much is the modification? And how long does it take.. I.E. if I drop it off.. how long do you need it to do the install? Lastly, Any idea if this voids warranty.. and or do we hide it in some fashion, so you have to dig to figure it out?

Thanks

There are two ways to do the mod, I would suggest doing in using a relay pack that you can purchase from "Shane" (I have to find his last name and e-mail in one of the posts here). The relay pack I believe is $50. It is possible (although unlikely) that it could void your warranty, but I have never had an issue, and I did this mod on my '08 Armada, and a similar (much more complicated mod) on my '04 QX56.

If you ordered the pack from Shane, and brought it with, you would also have to purchase a $5 switch, and I could do the whole thing for you in about an hour and a half. It is totally hidden, and I located my switch just underneath the dash on the driver's side kind of by my right knee.

First off, from the staff here at NICOclub, welcome aboard! We are glad to have you here.

There is not an actual module, but what you need to do is interrupt the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) wire and the E-Brake wire going to the back of your stereo head unit. You can easily identify these two wires in the Altima service manual. You can either use a DPDT switch or the nicely labeled relay pack from Shane @ Tintmasters.

Let me know if you have any questions, I would be glad to help!

I just realized that if you flip the switch traveling at highway speeds it won't locate your position until you slow down to 30-40 mph. That sucks for interstate traveling.

I have a DPDT switch in our M45.

You are correct, and even when it does locate your position, it is not completely accurate and it follows slowly.

For those who have done the conversion, can you switch it off (disconnect/interrupt mode) to make the nav changes and then switch it back to normal to get better GPS positioning?

Absolutely!!!!!! All done literally at the flip of a switch!

Timmbo,

Good morning.. I had reached out to you some time ago about the by-pass.. I will be in Green Bay for a short period of time. (Baptism) I will arrive about 5pm on Saturday 10/9 night.. and then leave around 1pm on Sunday 10/10. So.. question 1.. are you potentially available to do the by-pass on my Armada either Sat after 5pm or before noon on Sunday? If so, if you could please get me the list of stuff that I need to bring.. Ideally brand names and place to buy.. (so I don't screw it up) In my last post you said something about Shane.. not sure if that is the route to go.. Just let me know.. and thanks in advance. Mark

its in the audio video section in the service manual. both wires are in the back of the headunit in the main harness (i think there's 2 or 3 harnesses connected to the hu).
