Had few questions about the headlights, would like to make the parking light to match the Xenons. Anyone changed the Parking Light Bulbs to LED ones? I checked the service manual and it looks like there's only one W5W bulb for both small parking lights? Anyone know can you chance those without removing whole headlight assembly?

Yeah I would like to know too. I think its dumb how they used halogen bulbs for those. It totally does not match the xenon's.

I know to remove the headlight assembly is a major pain. The manual tells you to remove pretty much the entire front.

Wow, that was easy, took about 2 minutes. Found some "gatling" led lights from my closet and installed those:

That looks sharp.

What kind of led bulbs are they? I looked on the superledbulbs site and I can't find the model as indicated on your bag.

They must've changed their site since I bought mine while back, found them under:

http://www.superbrightleds.com....html

and select Buy Now from WLED Miniature Wedge Base bulbs - it's the WLED-x4 LED bulb White. 194 type is same as W5W. Not sure about that 32° or 90° angle thing.

Is it just one bulb per housing? I only see one connector for each housing.

Yes, only one bulb / housing.

JMN, thank you so much for the detailed instructions, you were right, changing those lights took no more than 5 minutes, I was really surprised that they actually used one per a headlight, and I ordered 4 from superbrightleds, at least I will have extra. Thank you once again.

I have an 09 and want to put the LEDs in the parking lights as well. I looked at Superbrites website and want to purchase today. Did you buy the 32 or 90 degree LEDs?

Thanks

I only use WLED-WHP9-T for all my cars, they are the best for that purpose and provide a very nice crisp light that matches the HID.

I ordered the LED and the package warns "do not install in headlamp housings heat will cause LED failure and void warranty"

Should I be worried?

Yes, if you install it in the headlamp housings...

Hey trentbg,

Just want to confirm before I purchase that the WLED-xHP9-T Wedge Base Bulb for $12.95 will fit the 2010 SL without issue as opposed to the other smaller bulb mentioned in this thread.

Thanks for your input.

I installed the WLED-x4 LED bulb in my 09 LE and have actually been disappointed by the results. Of the four parking lights only the two outter lights (those closests to the HID headlamps) are lit. I realize that there is only one bulb for each pair of parking lights only one of the two appears to be lit. Given the brightness of the WLED-x4 LED bulbs the uneven lighting is very noticable. In the pictures posted by JMN this is clearly not the situation. I'm sure I purchased the correct LEDs. Is it possible that the 32° or 90° angle thing is a bigger issue?

Medic, I think the problem is the degree of the light. The bulb mentioned in the post before yours,WLED-xHP9-T, is a 360 degree pattern. I bet with the concentrated 32 or 90 degree pattern it is not lighting the whole housing.

thats exactly correct, also, the bulb type i referenced has 9 led's as upposed to 4. hence the extra cost, but well worth it IMO

Just swapped mine out for the WLED-xHP9-T bulbs. It looks awesome! Very easy to do and the website says they have a life expectancy of up to 40,000 hours.

They also match the color of the LED daytime driving lights.

They are:

The picture is a little misleading because the driving lights turn off automatically when the parking or headlights come on. Still look very cool.

may be too little too late but i was able to get these w/ my iphone, hence the poor quality at dusk, but still shows both the hue and that the 9 led unit "fills out" the whole housing.

Couple of follow up questions for trentbg and/or JMN:

1) Exactly how many bulbs were replaced? According to the FSM-EXL, there's the front marker lamp, parking lamp, and turn signal lamp.

2) Since these are going into the headlamp housing, how have the LEDs held up with Xenon headlamps?
