In the past 6 months, my car has been in and out of the dealership for non scheduled things here and there, keeping it at the dealer for a total of almost 2 months. From December 2015, we had to replace the Nav/DVD screen, replace steering spring as it was squealing on every turn, replaced both headlights as the AFS was malfunctioning, Just got it back from a 3 week stint at the dealer (waiting for new nav screen to arrive), and on the way home, my rear window is not not going auto up.

Now its a 6 year old car, understandably some things might go, but it seems to be going all at once. I want to keep this car, but it certainly has not been the most trouble free verhicle I've owned. It seems to be a bit more trouble than what I see of other's ownership. The warranty, and the dealer's loaners have kept the hassle to a minimum, but now that my warranty is ending early next year, I am entertaining the thought of getting it replaced.

Looked and searched the forum for reliability at this point of ownership and wanted to get additional thoughts. I have 61k on the clock, only owner. Any others that I should be expecting to be crapping out?

Yikes.....you replaced more things in those 6 months that I did in last 5 years I have owned my '07. I don't know what to tell you...

Try resetting auto-up for the rear window....I think you have to do every window separately so maybe that particular side was not set up by the dealer...who knows.

As for the car itself, If you already paid from the pocket for all those things to repair, you should keep the car for sure at least for time being. Maybe its just a bad streak....good luck anyways.

Those are not common things to replace. Like said above I would hold onto the car if you paid out of pocket for those things to be replaced.

Found out about the reprogramming for the auto up. Good news, all good. And fyi for future, moonroof also needs reprogramming.

All work has been covered, so no out of pocket expense. But it is very near crossing the line from "no problem, its covered" to "what elese is going to break after its no longer covered?"

My wife's 2011 BMW suffered major failure with the comfort access system (keyless entry) a few months before warranty ended.
It was at the dealer for 3 weeks for diagnosing/repairs.
I told my wife, the day we have to start putting money into electronic glitch fixes, off the car goes!

I bought a factory extended warranty with our 06 M35x.
Four years, plus 3 extra, never needed anything under warranty except the recall items covered separately! You just never know.

I think you will be fine.
Keep in mind you might be putting money into the things you read about here at some given point (like wheel bearings). The first item that let go on my M35 was the flanges at the mufflers, they rotted away at about 65k!
To date I have 120k miles on my car, the only running defect I cannot seem to diagnose is a VDC/Slip/ABS issue!

Don't feel too bad, I have to replace an evaporator core on a used BMW at work here and it's almost $3,000. The car only has 50k on it.

Eeeks!
That's is exactly my worst nightmare!

Strange thing is, I bought the M for my wife, she drove it for 3 years exclusively around Westchester NY to & from work until she switched jobs to NYC.
She then used a beater we had to get to the train station & back.

Fast forward, she landed a job in CT. afterwards, and wanted a car a tad smaller then the M.
We drove the 2011 Infiniti G, but she fell in love with the 328!

That BMW scares me seeing what folks are paying for repairs, and like the job you have now, not a whole lot of mileage on them!
I'm sure the guys in your shop had a good laugh when you showed them the cost of that evap!

Steve, I had that VDC/Slip/ABS issue. Mine was addressed with the steering sensor in the steering wheel. I did all the checks that the forum suggested, and after a web search, found out about the steering sensor. That did the trick. Apparently, when they were fixing my seat sensor for auto retract, and when they didnt do a good job putting the steering wheel parts back properly, and the steering sensor wasnt level.
