Hello,

Long time lurker and first time poster. I have run into an issue with my 2010 M35 Base w/ Nav regarding dash button inoperability. On the drive into work the other morning the preset 1 button stopped responding. I have experienced it responding slowly in the past, so i pressed it again. No use. I try preset 2 - works fine. Preset 3 does not work. Try a bunch of other buttons and determine the following do not work:

For HVAC:
Driver side Mode
Driver side temp up
"Auto"

For Nav / Radio:
Zoom In (button)
Back with the hooked arrow (below toggle wheel)
Voice
Setting
Disc*Aux
Preset 1
Preset 3

All other buttons work and functionality works. Radio works and can tune XM/FM/AM. Nav works. I can get the auto HVAC button to light up by pressing front defogger button twice. I can zoom using the control wheel.

I have already pulled all fuses and tested for continuity w/ meter. Pulled negative battery cable and let it sit for 30 minutes. I am unable to access the "Diagnostic Mode" as I cannot get the setting button to respond.

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you've done quite a bit of triage yourself; good work. I'm sure one of our more knowledgeable posters will chime in soon.

I ended up taking it to the dealer.

They were able to replicate the issue, however no problems were found when scanned. Generally this means it is the buttons or boards, but the were not positive of that guess. The fact that some buttons worked while others did not, and that the buttons that did not work crossed multiple systems led them to suspect it may not be the boards. To throw the dice on the boards was something like $2k and it may or may not have resolved the issue.

The dealer offered to send it out to a third party they had used in the past to resolve electrical issues. They indicated the third party has in the past been able to resolve the issue at a much lower cost. Of course the shop said they could. I am still waiting on the resolution.
