2010 EX35 Fuel Economy Problem

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I just brought out my 2010 EX35 just a month ago from sitting in my garage for 3-4 years. When it was in the garage, I would give it a short drive around once a month or so. When I brought the car out, I changed oil and gas. I also got my tires checked and everything seemed fine. The car has about 65,000km on it so it is relatively new. However, when I check my fuel economy, it shows 18.5L/100km. That is pretty bad. I usually drive local since I don't really need to travel that far. I also don't floor it so having 18.5L/100km is just insane. Is there anything I can do to possibly fix this? Air filters don't seem bad.

Are u changed all fluid? Not related to efficiency but I noticed much smoother shifts when I changed the tranny fluid.

Bad gas turn into varnish like, which can plugged your injectors. If you're going to drive once a week, make sure you drive like you stole it. Take it on the freeways and bring it above 65 MPH to blow out that carbon build-up. Injector cleaner will help a bit.

Took my new used 2014 on a 5 hour trip over the weekend to the mountains and was getting 27 and 28 mpg average driving in the 70s! I used to get 21 or 22 max in my 08 on the highway.
