Hi there,

Just want to see if anyone else with an AWD Rogue notices this. It seems when my car is parked and I put it in drive and accelerate, there is sort of a muted "clunk". It's not very loud, but definitely noticeable. I know in the manual it talks about certain clunking sounds are normal, but I'm just curious if this is the AWD mechanism shifting around or if it's just a normal CVT noise. Once I'm up and going, it doesn't make the sound, but just when it's been parked and then put into drive after sitting for 30 minutes or so.

There was a TSB regarding clunk noises from the AWD system on low speed corners, but this does not fit your symptoms.

The ABS system will also make a brief noises after driving a short distance. It's part of the self test routine. Unless you hear it all the time, I would consider it normal.

If that happens every day, the first time you drive at 10-15 mph, then that is the ABS self test.

If that is not the case, could you give us more details on when it happens and what are doing when it happens?

Based on your description it definately sounds like the ABS self test, it's quite loud, and you can feel the "clunk" through the brake pedal. I'm actually surprised more owners don't worry about this because it doesn't sound very good, but it is normal each time you start the car and start driving away. If you have the clunk additional times during driving other than at first startup, then it could be a problem.

Hmmm, it could be the ABS self-test. It does it within the first 10-20 feet of travel when starting out having the car parked. Maybe that's only why it seems to occur when the car is powered off. I'll have to test this out a bit more, but it sounds like it might be the ABS self-test.

Mine also does this. Same as Juelze. After sitting overnight, the first time I drive it, there is a clunk. I back out of my garage and it's quiet. Once I start driving down the street, there is 1 clunk sound. And I don't hear it again until the next day.

Yep, same with all Rogue's, it's perfectly normal.
