Not all cars interior are the same; there are edges, curves, surfaces that the sound will travel and bounce off of. Bose places its speakers around the cabin to make the music more "filling" as opposed to very loud. If properly placed, you really don't need a powerful system make a system sound great I noticed that the stock AC Bose system seems to lack in the bass area hence why I added two 10" subs.
i agree that a system doesn't necessarily need power to sound good, but by any audiophile's standards, the BOSE system in the Altima coupe is NOT a very well tuned system at all... the BOSE in the Infinity sounds much, much better... BOSE uses pretty low quality materials in their lower line cars like the Altima... and any attempt to turn the BOSE system up to higher volumes will distort many types of music.. a well tuned system can be played at the threshold of comfortable listening without distortion.. our BOSE system falls short in that regard because the amp lacks the power necessarty to power the drivers at high volumes...

this is not entirely accurate...

The system comes with 9 speakers, only 7 are visible... I'm guessing the additional two are subs? Does anyone know if this is true or where they are located?
Also, i was wondering if I could connect my external hard drive directly to the usb input? I saw a video of a guy plugging in a small usb memory disk with songs that were played directly through the radio. Any ideas?
Please see my response to this in the proper section, the audio section... the complete answers to your questions are there...
