2010 Alitma "No key" warning light comes on; key is in the port. Any ideas on how we resolve this issue?

Change the fob battery. Even if the battery is low enough that you need to utilize the port, it sometimes wont recognize the key IN the port. Swap out the fob battery and you should be all set.

You could try your other key and if that works then you know you just need a new battery!

Thank you for your ideas. I switched to our second key, which is new, and still have the problem. The "old" key has a new battery: still have the problem. For a test, I've been stashing the key in the cupholder instead of inserting into the key port. Haven't seen the "Warning: No Key" error message appear, so far.

I've also been trying to think about what has been going on when the error message pops up. It seems like it usually comes up when I have passengers getting in or out of the car. Hmm... I thought maybe there is a loose connection when the key is in the port so, with the car running, I wiggled the key all around in the port: no error message. I just can't figure it out.

You dont have to have the key in the port to start the car. The port is meant specifically for use when the fob battery is low and is not registering.

Either way, sounds like you have an issue with reception at the other end and not at the key fob transmitting.

Since we bought the car about 3 weeks ago, I took it back to the dealer to see if they could figure out the problem. They just don't seem to know. They said they would call Nissan and ask them if there have been any similar reports as well as for guidance.

I think it's a problem with a faulty key port. I'm afraid they won't replace any parts until they feel it is justified.

I have the same problem with Altima 2012. When the key in the key port there is warnings "No key" . When the key is out of key port (in the cup holder for example) everything working fine. There is a new battery in the key.
Somebody have had similar problem and how you solved it, please?
