Anyone know anything about a real cold air intake for the coupe? ive read all the threads and I understand the battery will have to be relocated or changed to something smaller. Is there anywhere that once this is done that actually makes a true cai for these cars or are we stuck with the short ram hot air versions that in my opinion just arent worth anything besides the sound you gain? Thanks for anyones input!

Something like this that was made for the 3.5L last gen maxima...seems like the ecu would accept it the same as anything else for the 3.5's.

you may be stuck with short ram.....if I remember right the batt is located really close the the edge of the engine bay. I'm guessing that pic is of the max, but if you could figure out a way to move the batt to the left it MIGHT work.

you still get power gains from a short ram intake, you lose some low end torque but your high end hp is boosted. if you truly are looking for a solution for a cai though, you can wire some piping through the engine to under the engine bay, the 2.5 engines have plenty of room down there

I have the 3.5L though. Ive been looking for ways to do it. Most likely I will either have to move the battery or move the under the hood fusebox which seems like alot of work depending on how many wires need to be legthened further out depending on where I could move it. Id feel better on just getting a small motorcycle battery or moving the batter to the trunk and routing the intake through there. Nothing against short ram intakes. I may end up getting one. I just like to see what my options are and have something different than everyone else. Thanks for the input everyone

i actually went to autozone to buy the bendable piping for it for like 20 bucks and i did my cold air intake next to the battery. theres lots of room down there for the 2.5ers. downside is that i couldnt keep the filter on the piping no matter how tight i put it on. so i ended up taking it out and keeping it as a short ram intake. you could try it if theres room for the 3.5.

It really depends what you're looking for.

If you're looking stay N/A and you want peak HP in use then spend the money, relocate the battery, and get a cold air intake.
If you're looking to stay N/A and want mid range torque increased and some HP, save your money and get a short ram intake.

IMHO short ram is better. You're getting mid range gains as opposed to HP over torque. It's good to have both at a fair price and you can make up for "losses" you could have gained with a cold air intake with other modifications. Save your money and stick with a short ram intake in my opinion.
