So I got an altima coupe SR 2010 with eibach springs. What company makes shocks and struts for our cars?

nope! there are no aftermarket support for struts as far as i know. coils you can go with either BC Racing or Tein, though there are currently no Tein coils offered for 2.5's

No one yet, the only other option is coils at the moment. They drop the car a little lower and are adjustable. As far as I know BC racing coilovers seem to be the standard around here.

I would like to see some aftermarket shocks and struts, but we are stuck with stock for now. :-(

Yah I tried looking for struts but none came up yet. I am new to this and I still never got a chance to put up pictures and or edit my profile but I sill soon. I dont mind the coils but I rather stick to the springs. It's much more of a stock ride with a great look. Everytime slow down and am hitting the brakes and or go over a pot hole in a parking lot or something I hear a cracking noise and have been told that is the struts in the front. Is that true? I have had it checked out by Nissan and they said it's your after market springs? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I had no problem with that when i had my springs on; granted i only had my springs on for a month before i upgraded to coils but w/e. I would expect some increased wear on your stock struts due to the aftermarket springs, but nothing too significant. just know that by putting aftermarket springs on your car will cause the dealership to say that the warranty covering your suspension is void. know that this isnt necessarily true, but unless you would like to begin a long, costly legal process to get your suspension work done at the dealer you're stuck with it.

also, i'm fairly certain that a cracking noise like that isnt normal, aftermarket springs or not. what kind of milage do you have on your coupe, and how long have you had the springs on? your stock struts may have already began to go, depending on how much and how hard you've driven your car.

Yah I know that's why I'm wondering what it is am what's going on down there. What system did you go with? And why did you switch to coils?

What system? I ended up going with BC Racing because I got a hell of a deal on them from another forum member, and I wasn't going to say no to the price he proposed. I also made the switch because I didn't want to have to keep worrying about my stock struts blowing out because of the Eibachs.

If you think about it in the long run, what it would cost you to get lowering springs + eventually get new struts or coils > what it would cost to get coilovers, so why pay more? sure you sacrifice a bit of ride quality, but you save dough! Also, you can go way lower with coils and adjust your dampening :naughty:

I guess that is true. I ment your setup for your suspension when I said system. Which one do you recommend then? BC racing or Tein?

he has the BC racing so thats all he can go off of. If your coupe is a 2010 it can't have THAT many miles on it, how long have you had the eibachs installed? Did you install them or a pro? I've been running them for +10k miles and I'm not getting any weird sounds. It shouldn't be making that kind of noise really. Also like zephyr said, you will compromise the life of the stock struts and the ride quality somewhat.

I try and tell people that if all they use their car for is commuting in the city them the eibachs probably aren't a good idea, but if you tend to do more spirited driving on curvy roads then eibachs are a must, coils would be even better for that matter.

I hate my school's internet sometimes. ANYWHO as I was going to post, from what I've heard the Tein coilovers are much better suited for daily driving than the BC Racing coils are. I have the BC Racing and I don't mind the ride quality at all, so it's not a major concern for me. I do warn you, though, that if you want to get the Tein coils that you should be prepared to shell out some extra cash.

@rcboy514, just because it's a 2010 doesn't mean it doesn't have a lot of miles on it. For all we know, the guy could have a 100mi roundtrip commute to work every day.

Yah that is true. But I have 15k on it about to hit 16k lol I drive a lot being it's my only car. I have heard the noise since about 5 months now and the springs been on the car since 7 months now. And bought the car in June of 2010 which was about 8 months ago. I do driving from city's to highways anywhere I need to go. That's why I was wondering what I should do? I like these springs just because they feel like stock I would like to have the most comfortable ride as I can get with out my g37 19s rubbing. So that's why I was asking if there is another option or Idm at all keeping eibach on the struts but just having to replace the struts with aftermarket ones so they can handle the springs because the stock struts don't.

well if you don't mind spending the money, might as well get some tein coils.

Yah I was kind of thinking that. But one more question. I have heard that tein makes this electronic damper kit where it will raise the car and also lower it. Would that be comparable with the ones they make for our car or no?

i wasn't aware of this. i don't think the tein coils are a high enough model in the tein lineup to be comparable to that.

Ohh ok thanks for the info!! If they do come out with after market shocks and we use the eibach springs would that last a good amount of miles?

no idea. some people have had the springs last them a long time (DReed), while others haven't had such good fortune.

Mine have lasted 8500 miles. Not alot like some guys on here Im sure but its enough for me to feel they are worth what I paid for them.

So what if I get new springs? Or try a different company set of springs? Would I still get that noise? Or will it go away but have a chance of it coming back?

I highly doubt it's your springs making the noise, especially if they are eibachs. So getting different springs wouldn't exactly fix the problem; it would just be a waste of money imo.

EDFC only controls the dampening (harshness or softness of ride), not ride height. It is available on our cars if you get their Super Street coils, as the basic damper coils are only ride height adjustable and offer no dampening adjustment.

Also keep in mind that with coilovers, every time you change your ride height you should get an alignment. Even adjusting it as little as a half inch can put your car out of spec, and you could end up shredding tires.

I've had my eibachs since summer 08' and have put about 17k miles on them so far. I haven't heard anything yet....it will sound louder on bumps and stuff just because they are stiffer than stock. They should not be making noise just when you hit the brakes to stop.

Did you instal the springs yourself? If so it could be the top bolt on the strut, if this isn't fully tightened it will def make a lot of noise. I installed mine myself and after the first test drive they made all kinds of noise because i forgot to tighten that bolt.
