Hello Nico members..

I've been following the site for quite a few years and found it very helpful ever since I got my AC in 2010.. very happy with the car and just now I came across an issue to which I can not find the answer to.. I searched and I'm not sure if anyone has come across this.. So I have the 6SP manual transmission and a few weeks back while driving I noticed the gears were hard to go in and out.. eventually my transmission got stuck on 1st gear and I was unable to go into neutral at that point, but i was able to drive the car on 1st.. I pulled over to the side and was able to finally get into neutral at which point the car would not go into any gear anymore.. I had the car towed to my mechanic and it did start working while there.. I had the car in shop for a couple of days.. my mechanic looked at the linkage and any leaks etc.. he took off linkage and lubricated it and the car was fine for 3 days.. on 3rd day while driving i was in 2nd and pushed in the clutch to go into 3rd and gear went out only half way out of 2nd and was stuck.. i pulled over and was able to put it into neutral at which point it would not go into any gear again.. I called my mechanic, he had me turn off the car and see if I was able to put it into gear without using the clutch, at that point I was.. So we started the car on 2nd gear in position and clutch down to the floor.. i was able to drive the car and everything was ok... I brought the car in for further checkup and for past week the mechanic has been driving the car without issues.. the dealership has never heard of anything like that and not sure what could be causing this problem :gotme .. I don't want to get stuck somewhere again.. about 7 months ago I had the master cylinder replaced so that is a new part which i doubt is causing issues.. fluids are ok and linkage looks ok.. any suggestions? maybe someone had this happen to them before and managed to get a fix? Any information would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks guys!

That is weird. Have you looked into aftermarket clutches/flywheels?

one thing we haven't done yet was remove the transmission to have a look if there is anything wrong with clutch/flywheel... thinking there could be a spring that broke and could cause issues when engaging the clutch.. maybe worn bearings?? car has about 140k miles on it... as this is not something that is constant, it's really hard to pin point.. i doubt it is the transmission as it drives when in gear.. issue occurs when engaging the clutch and trying to switch into or out of gear.. linkage looks ok.. i'm just trying to figure out if i'm missing anything before i tell the mechanic to pull out the transmission to look at clutch, flywheel and pressure plate.. hoping someone might of had a similar issue and found a fix.. unfortunately to remove the transmission, looks like it has to be lowered with the engine, so labor just for that is about $1200.. if it is something simple and i decide to pull the transmission out it will be a costly mistake..

Have you ever read the FSM for your vehicle?

Who is "my mechanic"?

He doesn't appear qualified to me?

I assume it was not an authorized Infiniti dealer and if you are not paying the dealer to do an inspection of your vehicle they are not going to give you any information.
Remember that you get what you pay for in today's world

From your description and the info in the FSM an educated guess would be a CSC and or CMC related problem?

Read the CL chapter carefully

Good luck

I have my own mechanic who has been working on all the cars my family has owned over last 20 years.. toyotas, nissans and anything in between.. he has been in touch with a nissan dealership as he knows most of the mechanics from my dealership... that said, the dealership has no idea what could of caused my problem and everything was checked before we decided to remove the taransmission to look at the clutch etc.. the car is about 100k past its powertrain warranty... the CMC has been replaced earlier in the year with a brand new one from the dealer and this issue started months down the road.. there are no leaks as well.. right now the transmission is out of the car and is being looked at.. i will have a look into the CSC as you mentioned as well.. will keep everyone updated on the outcome..
