reason they did this is bc they sold a s***load more 2.5's than the 3.5's so they are making it so people can have the smaller more eco friendly engine and the looks of a more luxury/sporty type....ie bigger wheels better headlights nicer interior and custom red leatherrjdmmfl1 wrote:hey, I'm headed to mossy nissan tomorrow... maybe they will have one i the showroom...
hey guys, now I know where they got that little angled headlight from on the new A/C.... here's a closeup of the old G35 headlights
phucking nissan phucktards
also, did anyone notice that the 2.5's now have turn mirrors as part of one of their packages,,,
honda has a number of ways to distinguish between the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder accord...( the 4 cylinder has a single exhaust, not dual... the 4 cylinder does NOT have chorome door handles)
nissan is doing everything possible to blend the 2.5 and 3.5...(dual exhausts on both... turn mirrors on both)... now once they are debadged, you can't tell the difference between the two
from a cost analysis standpoint, I agree... but why didn't they do that from the beginning? It may very well come down to the fact that they sold twice as many 2.5's as 3.5's, so why not make the, identical except under the hood... I understand the reasons why they did it, I just don't like it... again, in Honda accords, you CLEARLY know the difference between the 4 banger and the V6 just by looking at them...XenonSE-R wrote:I think the main thing here is Nissan looking at cost effectiveness when producing this thing.
Think about it - if both models have a dual exhaust setup, then regardless of trim packages, they only have to manufacture one rear fascia for the entire lineup. Same goes for the turn signal mirrors (this may have also been done from a safety standpoint as well, given the Altima is a 5-Star crash car, they're probably building upon that), as well as other things the two have in common.
Nissan's marketing analysis for the design of this car might have written off the enthusiasts purchasing this car simply because they believed people looking to "stand out" (i.e. those that want the extra balls in the 3.5) would go for the Z instead of an A/C.
Honestly, I believe the V6 Altima exists only because the competitors' midsize lineup (i.e. the Accord and Camry) offer V6s, otherwise this whole platform would probably only have the 2.5 offered. Anyone that's ever driven these cars knows that there is plenty of get-up-and-go in the 2.5s and the V6 isn't really necessary when you look at what the rest of Nissan's lineup offers (Maxima and Z).
Although, being a 3.5 owner, I can totally understand feeling like I should stand out from "the rest of the coupes" because I spent an extra 5 grand-ish on my ride. If anyone should feel slighted at all, it would totally be the '08 3.5 owners. The interior and exterior of the '10, as I said above, offer the same stuff all the way down to wheel/tire configuration.
Which is why I opened that statement with this...rjdmmfl1 wrote:

I do, however, disagree with the notion that they would even consider making a 2.5 only vrsion of the A/C... from the 200SX, to the Sentras, to the last two generations of the Altima, they have had two diffeent engones available... Mitsubishi, Pontiac, Chevy, toyota, and Honda all have parallel trim options... to even consider only making 2,5s would have lost them millions of follards in sales to their compertitors, and would not have been consistent with the last generation of Altimas!
So we don't really disagreeXenonSE-R wrote:I believe the V6 Altima exists only because the competitors' midsize lineups (...) offer V6s
hmm, I just re-examined the entire history of NIssan's economy and family sized vehicles...XenonSE-R wrote:

Yeah it was. I'm not too hot on it either.SHIFT_COUPE wrote:Was the rear difuser painted to match the body color like in the other pictures we've seen? That's the only thing I don't like about the new model.
damn...red leather is soo sexy...if only there was an official program from nissan to retrofit entire interiors and/or options for different model/years.rjdmmfl1 wrote:dam*it.. I hate having to eat my words... but i do it when its necessary...
soo, i'm riding into work today and I see what looks like a black Nissan Altima coupe in front of me...
but i look inside, and its got these deep red, almost maroon leather seats... like the deep red leather on the BMW M3 or the mercedex SL... sort of like this...
but a little darker red...
anyway, i pull up closer, and I see 3.5 SR ... I'm like WTF, they were from Tenessee driving in San Diego, and they already had their real plates, which means they must have gotten this a while ago... I don't understand it.. I can't see how they could have had it that long ago... so i tried to follow them, but i think they got a little spooked, and wouldn't roll down their window to talk to me... so I just backed off (a brother waving at you on the expressway in La Jolla, Ca may be a bit intimidating I guess)
anyway, all i got was a crappy camera phone picture...
so you ask why am I eating my words.....
well....
it pains me to say it....
but on the highway, this thing was phucking sexy!!!!
the headlights looked really good, except from the side where the funky triangle thing still looks wierd...
but all in all, with the sexy dark red leather, and the new 18" wheels, and the projectors... i submit, the phucking car looks sexy...
my only complaint is that it REALLY does look like the G37... not that the G37 isn't sexy, bu they really copied the G37 when you see this thing in person....
oh well, i admit when I'm wrong... and i was wrong on this one.. the pics just don't do it justice....
2010 Altima coupe.... there, i said it
